Description

Buena Vista is a man-made site located approximately 25 miles southwest of Bakersfield. When the site was completed in April 1973, it took 43 days to fill both Lake Evans and the much larger Lake Webb with over 2,300,000,000 gallons (or 6,800 acre feet) of water. Lake Webb is an elongated shape of 873 acres available for boating, jet‐skiing and fishing, as well as an additional 125 acres for jet‐skiing (maximum speed 45 mph). Projecting midway into the lake, a horseshoe‐shaped spit of land contains 112 campsites in a double row. To maintain the landscaping through the dry season, a sprinkler system operates, requiring campers to place their things in designated spots. Lake Evans, at 86 acres, is the place for the more serene pursuits of sailing, fishing, and boating at no more than 5 mph.

Quiet campground

Campground is full hookups. Lake was nice and not many boats. Ground was rough due to holes made by squirrel population. Some minor litter.

2 nights and 3 days

Overall a really good first camping trip in our new trailer! Weather was shaky but the waterfront was really nice. Decent room between sites but the store wasn’t opened while I was there.

Good spot to camp during a Road Trip

Camped here for a night to break up my drive from LA to SF. It was a nice campground, clean, bathrooms were functioning, but not super clean, had a picnic table, fire ring and you could park right next to your site. It was fairly crowded, but I was there on a Friday night.

Good for fishing and water sports

Super dusty, muddy and dirty if you’re off the main camp site away from the RV circle. What balances being away from the main campsite though- is the literal waterfront campsites. Weather is all over and there are tons of bugs because you’re on the waters edge- but the symphony of frogs singing you to sleep at night is great! Was there with my two dogs tent camping. Def not worth the cost if it’s a frequent visit place. Water spouts and flushing toilets/showers are only in the main campsite- not in the PKW where we were.

Nice campground in winter

We chose a water front non electric site, of which there are only a few, and enjoyed the birds and squirrels. Almost no one here.

Great place for the night

Took a chance and found a spot last minute, right on the water. It was on gravel without shade but it didn't really matter because we were just crashing for the night. Beautiful, warm summer night, very friendly staff. People do like their jet skis there so if that bothers you then maybe find another place.

This place was so much fun

This camp was great! I'm glad to know that they don't have the blue green algae the is very toxic to children and animals. Makes it nice to know that I can take my pets with me to the lake so that way they can have fun to. We brought our RV and we pulled in very late at night. But it worked out because we were able to park in a spot and hook up to the power and then pay for the spot in the morning.
