Rough road in, but the view is worth it

The camping spots are just turnouts but big enough for our B van. The ocean is 200 yards away and the setting sun lit up the cliffs.

Good and bad

A wide variety of experiences are available in this campground. Some sites are definitely better than others. But if you just want to pack up the kids and go, this is a good option.

Nice campground in winter

We chose a water front non electric site, of which there are only a few, and enjoyed the birds and squirrels. Almost no one here.

Winter camping

Quiet desert campground. The road in has not been graded for awhile. Beautiful scenery.

Surprisingly good

Down a gravel road, so a bit hard to find. Google maps doesn't really get you there. A very nice campground with little road noise considering how close it is to the highway.

Visited but did not stay

We didn't actually stay there but leaving this review to explain why RVs and camper vans are discouraged. The campground is a small parking lot surrounded by walk-in campsites. If you are tenting it, a beautiful place!

Large sites

This was a FCFS stopover, but we enjoyed it. Interesting sites among the rocks. All dirt and some with a challenge to get level. Very quiet at night.

Great for a one night stopover

Clean restrooms, well spaced paved spots. Convenient to the highway but no road noise. Several generators running when we pulled in, but shut off at a reasonable hour.

Surprisingly crowded

No road noise! Limited availability for an actual site to park (we are in a camper van). We ended up just parking near a walk in site, but we are just overnighting so that's okay. Doesn't appear to be much to do here unless you are an astronomer!

Be forewarned

First, the actual campground is not easy to find. Don't go to the park office where the GPS wants you to go, the campground is further down the road. Then there is a sign at the entrance that you must make a reservation online. Confirmed by the "host" at the entrance. The website is not super easy to use on a phone. Not a bad campground, we were the only campers there and we had a view of the water, but we are still waiting for our confirmation of reservation!

Aging, but quiet

Small, quiet spots. Expensive for what you get, but near a tourist town.

Free is a good price

Campground consists of open grassy areas with picnic tables and fire grates. Very nice lake, but some industrial type structures interfere with the view from the campground. The campground slopes toward the lake, so finding level ground is a challenge. We stayed Saturday night and there were several open spots. The rules about quiet time are not enforced and some idjit ran his loud generator until 1 am. We ended up moving away from him at 11:30.

Quiet and wooded

Quiet night with only three other rigs in the A area. Lots of bugs in the pit toilet, but otherwise clean and well kept
