The French Meadows Campground and the French Meadows RV Dump Station are closed for 2025 while they undergo construction. This closure DOES NOT include:
- the Day Use or Boat Launch sites
- Ahart Campground
- Lewis Campground
- Coyote Group

Stage 2 fire restrictions are in place on the Tahoe National Forest beginning August 22, 2025 due to increasing fire danger. Under these restrictions CAMPFIRES AND CHARCOAL BBQS ARE PROHIBITED IN AHART CAMPGROUND. Individuals with a valid campfire permit may use a portable campfire ring/pit, stove, or lantern in an area at least three feet from any flammable materials provided that the portable campfire ring/pit, stove, or lantern only burns gas, kerosene, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel and has a with a shut-off valve. Campfire permits are free and available online at permit.preventwildfiresca.org or in-person at Tahoe National Forest Visitors Centers.Please visit the link below to review Forest Order 17-25-08 and to view a list of authorized hosted campgrounds where fires (in established metal fire rings) are allowed and to review additional prohibitions:https://www.fs.usda.gov/r05/tahoe/alerts/stage-2-fire-restrictions

Ahart Campground is located near Foresthill in the Tahoe National Forest, surrounded by dense forests and rugged terrain. Temperatures range from 30°F in winter to 85°F in summer, providing varied conditions for camping throughout the year. Nearby attractions include the American River, which offers opportunities for fishing and rafting, and the Foresthill Divide Loop Trail, popular for hiking and mountain biking.

Overview
Ahart Campground is located on the tree covered banks of the North Fork of the American River near French Meadows Reservoir, about 40 miles from the town of Foresthill, high in the Sierra mountains. Visitors enjoy the area for the rugged mountain beauty, fishing, boating and trail opportunities. This facility is operated and maintained by the Tahoe National Forest.
Natural Features
The campground is near the north shore of French Meadows Reservoir along the banks of the Middle Fork of the American River while nestled in a Coniferous Forest. Summer days can be warm and pleasant with cool evenings.

Directions
\_\_High clearance vehicles may take Foresthill Rd to the 43 Rd (Robinson Flat Rd) to Mosquito Ridge Rd, snow permitting. Access from Soda Springs and the 43 Rd is not recommended for trucks with trailers, motorhomes/RV's or passenger vehicles that are not high clearance vehicles with four wheel drive.
