Fog horns sound every 30 to 45 seconds through the night at Albion River Campground, a detail worth knowing before booking. The campground sits directly beneath the historic wooden Albion bridge, at the point where the Albion River meets Albion Cove and opens to the Pacific Ocean. Sites line an open lot with views of the water, but there is no vegetation between them. No trees, no shrubs, nothing to create separation between neighbors.
That openness is the campground's defining trade-off. The water access draws anglers, crabbers, and kayakers, since the site also functions as a marina with a boat launch. RV sites include 30-amp electric and water hookups, with some full hookups adding sewer and cable. Showers are coin-operated at 25 cents per 30 seconds, a detail the amenities list does not make obvious. WiFi is available but limited to basic email use, and Verizon and T-Mobile users have reported no cell service on-site.
Crowding comes up consistently in reviews. James N. notes the park is "tight, not a ton of space in between RVs," and recommends the B section for the most room. Sites can be reserved in advance, with an online interface that lets campers select their spot. The access road includes a sharp hairpin turn on the way down, so drivers of larger rigs should approach slowly. Campers who want more options in the area can also look at Van Damme State Park Campground to the north or Navarro Beach - Navarro River Redwoods State Park to the south. Book early for summer weekends, when the lot fills quickly.
