    Tom Sawyer's RV Park

    offers a unique camping experience

Tom Sawyer's RV Park offers a unique camping experience on the Mississippi River with a mix of pros and cons suika game. Visitors praise the beautiful river views, spacious sites, and pet-friendly policies, as well as convenient amenities like free laundry facilities. However, recurring issues include basic or outdated bathroom facilities, limited tent camping options, and inconsistent site maintenance. Overall, it's a great choice for short stays, particularly for those with RVs, looking to enjoy scenic riverfront views and the charm of tugboat traffic.

    Traveling with kids

It’s a city RV park, what do we really expect? It’s not camping for sure. Traveling from California with kids who have been at the mercy of cross-country RV parks- this was a reprieve for them, pool, bikes, playgrounds. We’ve paid $100 a night for less. Clean, cute, easy access, not sketchy. Noise, sure, but nothing a fan or AC could drown out. Airplanes every few hours, traffic from a nearby highway. Site 44 happens to be the only one without a tree for shade though, so unless you like hot sun- book another one.

    4th of July Trip

Really enjoyed this trip on 4th of July weekend!! Stayed at site 43 which is close to the swim beach and the bathrooms are very close. They have a really nice visitor center too. Just make sure to have bug spray. Mosquitoes get bad at night and ticks were pretty active. Overall, it’s a great State Park!!!!

    Not for tents

We had originally planned to stop here for a night based on good reviews. But once arriving & doing a quick drive thru changed our minds. Tent camping area is just small grassy area behind laundry house. Had to drive all the way thru to even see the river. We did see a tugboat on our drive thru though. Just seems too run down & not cared for. Now rv spots by the water looked nice- but not a good place for tents.

    Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Memphis

Clean and well maintained with lots of activities

This is a huge campground and the price for a spot was at least double what we would pay elsewhere (nearly $100). We weren’t able to get a campground at Tom Sawyer and the reviews were all over the place for the rest of the Memphis campgrounds that we decided to go ahead and splurge on this one.

This was our first Jellystone and I was shocked at how many campers the campground accommodated - there are RVs everywhere. Most of the amenities and services are located at the front of the campground and includes a store and propane, playground, dog run, pool, showers and laundry, gold mining station, and sports courts (basketball, Gaga ball, and basketball). Further back in the campground, was another playground and dog run and a really cute little lake.

We were staying off-season so there was no activities and they actually deflated the jumping pad, but my kids still had fun and I could see this campground either being a blast in the summer or being a nightmare because of too many people. While we were there, I saw almost no children and several of the camper sites looked like the guests were staying long-term. For a campground that is marketed towards families, the demographics were a bit strange.

That said, it was super clean, well-organized, the landscaping and sites were maintained, everyone was friendly. We got two loads of wash done and my husband said the showers looked good. There were some restaurants and a Walgreen that looked like they delivered to the campground. WiFi worked and they had cable tv.

We reserved a basic site, but for more money you could get a site with Adirondack patio furniture and there were plenty of cabins as well. We reserved same day online and they have a system for late check-ins.

I’m definitely giving Jellystone another go - but next time during the summer. I’m not sure whether this campground is a good base for exploring Memphis - I think if you had a car it would probably be fine as it’s only 20 minutes or so.

    Beautiful Park - Friendly Staff

I called ahead and arrived after hours. It was as easy as it gets. They said to just pick an open site and register in the am. I had a lake front site, with a nice fire pit and picnic table and grill setup.

The next morning I registered / paid $44.00 for the night. Super friendly staff. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Huge park

Lots of spaces, tons of trails, nice and flexible staff and very affordable. I was clear I had to have connectivity to stay and they let me come out and pick my spot before staying and gave me my.best options.

I'm up in the horse campground which is fine and. The only camper here. The bathroom is warm, water hot and all clean so frankly, with 33 miles of trails, we are staying and working for the week. I had to reply my starlink to get online and it took a few tries to find a workable direction but I did and plugged in to the bathroom which they said was fine. Spent Sunday exploring this huge place.

    Tom Sawyer's RV Park

    Beautiful views! ☀️

Tom Sawyer RV park was really cute and the staff was very helpful and communicative regarding check in. The campground is set on the Arkansas side of the Mississippi River. We arrived in time to see the sunset and woke up in time to see the sunrise over the river, both were spectacular. We stayed on site 67 right on the river, it had both water and electric hookups, neither of which we ended up using. There is a ton of space for a dog to run around, but unfortunately lots of people don’t pick up after their pooch, so that put a little damper on play time. The main reason for only 3 stars was the bathrooms, they were pretty run down and I would definitely not want to take a shower in them. Great place for one night passing though. If for the views alone.

    Not great for tent camping

Tent area had to many insects which made it difficult to set up camp. No fires in the area due to grass nor fire rings. RV sites look great since you can be near the river

Very clean facilities, many sites to choose from

Was told on the phone to just pick a spot and pay on my way out in the morning since I arrived after office closed. Many spots to choose from in several separate loops. Heated bathrooms have very clean showers with hot water. Street lamps around site made me feel safe although I can see how people might find them annoying. You have to drive pretty far into the park to get to the sites but that seems to discourage locals from driving through randomly like I’ve seen in other places. I had 2 bars of Verizon service and was able to text and use data.

No Cell Service; No Public Phones: No WIFI Calls at Visitor Center

    Senior discount

No fee assessed to make on-line reservations

light view of lake from #57

Site 57 has no site next to it or behind it

    Good distance between campsites

Dark sky friendly except for sites near toilet/shower facilities where there is an actual street light

Climate controlled toilet/shower facility in campground B

Both campground B toilet/shower facilities very clean with ample supply of TP, soap and paper towels

Wood picnic table (on concrete pad), pedestal BBQ grill, metal fire ring with cooking grate and metal lantern hook

    Wide roadway in campground B

    Small playground

Access to lake swimming area from campground B

    Trash receptacles at toilet/shower facility

    Lots of deer

    Smaller Walmart in Wynne AR

Pops Grill in Wynne real good

    CONS

County burn ban in place upon arrival but no signage anywhere alerting of ban. We saw the Arkansas burn ban website and inquired upon checkin if it was enforced and park clerk affirmed ban but we saw many campers had a wood fire burning all the time. So without any signage we understand the confusion and noncompliance. Park should at least place burn ban signage at campground entrance.

    Site 57 unlevel side-to-side

    No cell service.

    No public phone in park.

Parks signage states WiFi at park visitor center could be used to make phone calls. We found this not true with our T-MOBILE service as we purposely went to the visitor center to make a WIFI call. There is WIFI at visitors center but only one bar and too weak to transmit a call. So if there is an emergency after visitor center is closed and you need to make a call, good luck, as there is no public phone nor any camp hosts. We drove approximately 8 miles towards Wynne to get sufficient cell signal to make calls and connect with internet.

Only free WiFi is at park visitor center. We purchased WiFi from park vendor Viasat $20 unlimited for 3 days for one device. Viasat delivered a good signal within 200 ft of toilet/shower facility so it was useless in our campsite#57. Don’t waste your money! Sewer connection at rear of site pad so bring the looooong stinky slinky!

    Pets not kept on leash

    No security gate closure overnight

    beautiful

Beech Point Campground is an amazing lakeside spot. Our site came with a bench to view the lake and tent pad is in the perfect spot. It was peaceful and provided the perfect place to recharge our batteries! The bathrooms were very nice. Throughout the campground, sewer hook-ups are available.

    Tom Sawyer's RV Park

    Great location overlooking river!

We have stayed here twice for overnights on a coast to coast trip with a 28’ Airstream. The pull through spots are level, overlook the river and e/w/s hookups are easy to connect. The spots are at a slight angle so each one has a view of the river and are spaced a good distance apart. Verizon only has 1 bar but is still working so I cannot complain.

Top 10 spot for stay while in Memphis area.

Dusty (dry weather), with predominately gravel fairly level sites; some concrete pads.
Small trailer Laundry/bath/shower in western portion of sites. Big draw is the Mississippi River that borders the south portion of the park.

    Tom Sawyer's RV Park

    Motorcycle Friendly & Free Laundry

Found this campsite on the Dyrt and was pleasantly surprised with the location and family friendly atmosphere. Right on the River but not swimable water. In an industrial park but felt very safe. Just a few minutes from the interstate.

The tent site is just a primitive grassy group area but had tons of shade from giant oak trees and is right next to the bathhouse.

Laundry is free on the second story of the bathhouse which was a wonderful treat.

The bathrooms weren’t awful but could use some TLC.

Tent sites do not get picnic tables. No fire rings.

Overall a decent night’s stay - whatever you do don’t forget your bug spray!
