Best Campgrounds in Arkansas

This privately on campground has tons of history in the bluegrass and country music areas, many famous visitors campground in the past and present.

This couple who used to bring their kids here when they were younger now at retirement age decided to purchase the campground after it had become rundown, and the owners had passed away. They have rehab that amazingly and are still I’m sure a work in progress because they’re always working on new plans, but enjoying the present as well. They have festivals, And all sorts of activities. A true family owned very good vibes kindred spirit campground. I stayed there in 2022 and was blown away at how much progress they had made in just two years in 2024. They seemed like they were certainly not close to done yet, but always enjoying the present as well. This campground is outside of Conway, Arkansas about 15 or 20 minutes in Otto,AR, more easily found under Vallonia. When you pull up Leicester Flats Road windy as it is, you are rewarded by an outdoor chapel overlooking the lake and then when you come over the hill, you can see the full lake in the beginning of the campground area. The views are amazing, and the vibes are very good. I cannot recommend this campground enough. I saw they have lots of fun things on the lake for kids and it seemed from the office a full flyer worth of scheduled activities.

Great little campground. Please read description before coming or don't whine when you get here. No electricity, hot showers and water available close. Quiet and close to the river.

Nice, clean, quiet. On the map it is to the West of Russelville on the same side of the lake. Check google where the state park is.

Beautiful location next to a stream, although the sites are tightly packed in comparison with most state and national parks. Lots of hiking trails accessible from the nearby trailhead and a quick drive to the historic and charming Bathhouse Row downtown.

I arrived about 11 pm. Totally dark. Set up camp, started a fire and relaxed a little. We to bed and woke to a beautiful view overlooking the valley. Site is large enough for 3,maybe 4 Overlanding Rigs. Couple established fire rings. Highly recommend. Camp sits about 30, 40 yards off the road on the left . Late Feb. overnight temp 40. Verizon cell works great.

Hands down my favorite site. Will forever love the peace & tranquility here. Just a reminder to please leave the site now you’d hope it would be left for you. The most beautiful spot on the Arkansas river

Top notch RV campground that is well maintained and has a friendly professional staff. Lots of amenities like disc golf, hiking trails, pool, zip line course, lake access and two dog parks that were the cleanest I’ve seen at an rv park. We had site 204 which is a back in site with FHU on driver’s side. We loved this site because it was on the back side of the campground, near the dog park and lots of open space behind us to play with our dog. All of the sites are very spacious, concrete pads, well maintained hook ups, and most are full sun. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back.

This park is beautiful. It has camping for all types.

We enjoyed our camping trip here only thing missing was a shower in the bath house.

We had a break in the winter weather this week and took three days to explore the trails around Lake Ft. Smith. As only one of four campers, we had the place to ourselves save the park keepers making their rounds to ensure our safety and the cleanliness of the park.

If you need sewer service, I would recommend site #11 as the most level pull-through site, although there's not a bad site in the park.

January 31-Feb 3 2025. White Rock is a great little campground.  With only 8 tent camp sites it is very quaint.  The cabins were packed and there were many people visiting the overlook but my partner and I were the only tent campers. We arrived late, after sunset, and the host recommended tent site #1.  From the pictures we really wanted to set up in #5 but he insisted on #1 and recommended looking around in the morning if we wanted to move.  I'm thankful for his knowledge because sites 5-8 were juicy from the previous days rains. All of the sites are well maintained and within a short walk to the water spigot and vault toilet.  Sites 1-4 are well spaced and have large tent pads.  Sites 5-8 are smaller with smaller tent pads and the view from these sites is AMAZING!  Just know that with the view comes the wind and less space to stretch out.  We ended up staying in site #1 so our old hound dog could saunter around.  

It's a slow, beautiful drive.  The reviews are correct that the last hour of the drive is only 20 miles.  Make sure to stop for gas! It is an unpaved road that in some spots is maybe wide enough for 2 small vehicles to pass each other.  My AWD Mazda made the trip just fine and I saw a Toyota Camry at the overlook. Whenever you feel comfortable going over 15 MPH there will be a heavily rutted 180° hairpin turn.  If you forgot to bring something you'll probably find it or a substitute in the Office/General Store.  

Overall I loved this campground.  I will definitely be back in the spring or fall.

I usually like a more secluded area to camp but when I’m camping alone I love devils den, it’s super safe, gorgeous, plenty of room, great hiking trails!

The campground is very clean and the views are amazing.  The owners are attentive and very kind.

I went there in mid January when it was super cold and the leaves were all fallen. I was the only one there. The river is beautiful and is accessible from all six campsites, which are all in a row on the left side of the road. There is no running water, but you can get your water from the river - there are a couple of places you can access the shallow parts of the river from. Just make sure to filter or boil it. A couple of vault toilets, one with toilet paper and neither of their doors lock. I didn't see any wildlife. Oh and you can drive to your campsite of course. The ground was either muddy or gravel-y. Not much privacy between sites in winter.

Simple and spread out. There are some big spots. Most have a fire ring.

We spent the night while driving north past Memphis. The staff was super helpful. Our site (and the whole campground) was covered in snow and in was cold. Other that that, we had a great experience.

4 stars because it is next to an interstate highway so there is inevitable noise and not much interesting in the way of scenery. Other than that, this is a 5 star place.

We will definitely stay here again.

This campground was so beautiful and easily accessible! I loved the proximity to town and easy access to the Coler mountain bike trails, walking trails, and super cool cafe in the middle of the woods. The restrooms, fire pits, and tent platforms were well kept and clean. Defiantly the nicest restrooms I have ever experienced at a campground! Ben, the campground manager, was also super friendly and knowable about the Coler and anything in the Bentonville area. I really appreciated all of his help!

Coordinates: 34.82029,-92.82184. Large creekside dispersed campsite located on a rocky, bumpy track, about 150 yards east of Forest Road 179 (aka Wildcat Mountain Rd). If going southbound on FR179, the track is on the left immediately after crossing a bridge. The track may look sketchy to some drivers, but I drove down it okay in my Subara. Good spot for car camping. The site itself is very rocky, so it may be uncomfortable for tent camping. There are trees for hammock camping. There are 3 large rock fire rings. This site is prone to flooding. The site appears to be popular and well used. There are no hiking trails, but the access track passes the site and continues along the creek - good for an easy stroll. Tried fishing here, but no luck. I do know from previous experience that there is fish in the creek. The creek is nice for a summertime dip when its running high. The site is mostly shaded; may be difficult to get a Starlink connection. I received no cell service. This is a pretty nice site, offering some privacy from the forest road and a wonderful sound of the creek.

Coordinates: 35.58695,-93.20723. Camped here Dec 29, 2024. Set well off of Meadows Knob Rd. Expect pinstriping along the access track to this secluded dispersed campsite. FR1802A toward the site has some erosion; low clearance vehicles may high center in one or two spots. The main forest road into this part of the Ozark National Forest is okay. The campsite is in open area, located in an old clear cut area. There is a partial view of the distant mountains. The site is a level, dirt surface. Not a large site; okay for one rig. Tent camping possible. No nearby mature trees for hammock camping. The site is overgrown with grass and weeds; a weed whacker is needed to clear the rock fire ring. There is a spot on the ground where a previous campfire was made. Good AT&T and T-Mobile 5G service. No shade; access to Starlink is possible. No hiking trails, although there is a 2-track for hiking that leads down into Graves Creek Canyon and some unnamed waterfalls. The hike along this trck is nice. This is not a pretty dispersed site, but it is well off of the main forest road; very private. Access to the site may be difficult for some vehicles. High clearance 4x4 vehicles should have no problems.
