Roaring River State Park Campground requires reservations year-round and accommodates RVs up to 80 feet across three distinct camping loops. Sites range from $16-53 per night, with electric hookups available but no water or sewer connections at individual sites. Campers must use centralized dump and fill stations for water needs.
The campground divides into three areas with different personalities. Loop 1 sits tucked back in a narrow canyon away from the main river, offering more shade and privacy according to multiple reviews. "We stayed in Campground 1, a little way back from the water so we didn't have to worry about fisherman in our area," notes Kali D.. Loops 2 and 3 provide direct river access, with Loop 2 featuring electric sites among mature trees and Loop 3 offering both reserved and unreserved options in more open terrain.
The spring-fed Roaring River runs clear enough to spot trout swimming below the surface. Campers wade and swim in the cold water during summer months, while the adjacent fish hatchery offers tours of holding tanks where visitors can feed trout from fingerlings to full-grown fish. Several hiking trails wind through the park, though some reviewers report overgrown conditions on certain paths. A camp store stocks fishing gear, snacks, and rental poles for day use.
Access roads can present challenges, with several campers mentioning rough conditions. Sites close together in some areas, and weekend crowds fill prime riverside spots quickly during trout season. Cell service varies by provider, with Verizon working adequately while AT&T coverage remains spotty. The park provides free WiFi, though connection speeds slow during peak hours. Each loop maintains its own shower house, with Loop 2 featuring recently renovated facilities.
