## Overview

 Hickory Creek Park sits along the vast shores of Beaver Lake in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, offering spacious and sunny campsites and an abundance of recreational activities. 
## Recreation

 Fishing opportunities are plentiful near Hickory Creek Park. Beaver Lake has more than 28,000 surface acres of water, and anglers can try their luck at catching large and smallmouth bass, crappie, bream, white bass, stripers, and channel or spoon-bill catfish. Just below the dam, the cold waters of the upper White River provide the perfect habitat for pole-bending rainbow and record-sized German brown trout. Several trails snake throughout the Ozark Mountains, offering peaceful hiking, biking and wildlife viewing opportunities for visitors. Hunters will find game plentiful in northwest Arkansas. A mixture of hardwood and evergreen forest provides a good home to many different species of wildlife. While Beaver Lake is conveniently located near several population centers, within a short driving distance hunters can find remote areas filled with upland game such as deer, rabbits and squirrels. Many other sports and activities await campers, including boating, swimming, picnicking, scuba diving, water skiing, spelunking and sightseeing.

 Hickory Creek Park has large campsites with plenty of shade and room for activities, and is steps away from the lake shore. Campfire rings, picnic areas, drinking water and flush toilets all make for a comfortable camping getaway. Group picnic shelters are also available, making it the perfect site for large parties or family gatherings. 
## Natural Features

 Towering limestone bluffs, natural caves and a variety of trees and flowering shrubs surround Hickory Creek Park, making it an ideal retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. Beaver Lake and Dam, completed in 1966, was constructed in the White River Basin and boasts 449 miles of beautiful shoreline at the top of the conservation pool. Although the dam was originally built for flood control, hydroelectric power and public water supply, it has also created a popular recreational oasis.

The Best Camping Near Springdale, Arkansas

This was an unexpected stop on our trip, but it was a great night of camping! We were pleased with our large, shaded site.  We didn't have a lake site, but it looked like there were a few sites directly on the lake which would be amazing.  It wasn't too busy on a weekday, but definitely seemed like a place that was popular!

I still rank Hickory Lake as a three star campground but it is my least favorite of the campgrounds around Beaver Lake. I would suggest staying at Lost Bridge North or South or Horseshoe Bend.

One of my big pet peeves is when a campground doesn't regularly mow. They let the grass grow tall, then they cut it with a tractor and it looks more like hay than it does grass. Hickory Creek falls in that category. You end up with grass all over your tent and equipment or all over the floor of your RV. There really isn't a good excuse for this. You just need to mow more frequently. This is very disappointing for a campground run by the Corps of Engineers.

It still commands three stars for its proximity to the lake and the scenery.

Hickory Creek is my least favorite of the Beaver Lake campgrounds

This is a wonderful place to set up camp for a few days. Good fishing, swimming, and clean, level campsites. You can camp right by the water. Lots of shade in the summer to keep you cool. There are always some really great people there, too.

Picnic tables and fire pits at each site. Pit toilets and water spigots handy.

Great park

If you are traveling through, this could be a decent campground. It is right on the lake but I didn't like the spacing of the tent sites. It is pretty packed in and is more of an RV campground IMO. The bathrooms were okay but nothing to write home about. If this is your planned destination, I would call and make sure it is open. We have arrived more than once to find that it is closed for one reason or another.

Last stop campground in the area

Stayed last week at Hickory Creek Park on Beaver Lake near Lowell, Arkansas. We had a nice week. I think we had a nice spot in campsite 34.

Pros:

• Very nice people - both hosts/staff and campers

• Nice local area - fruit market, old-fashioned gas &amp; grocery, flea market, good regular grocery, and anything you'd want or need nearby

• Good Midway point between Hobbs State Park and Devil's Den State Park

• Great lake views at every campsite

Cons:

• Single shower house for the whole park

• Only 2 trash dumpsters for the whole park - quite a walk to get to each

• No ice, wood, or other supplies available onsite

• Poorly signed - easy to get lost on the way in to the park

I would stay here again, but I'm not sure it would be my first choice in the area. But my family had a really nice week.

Hickory Creek Park is nice enough, but not likely my 1st choice

Came in Jan and had the place to ourselves. Good price on a spacious setup. Only 50amp, no water. Kids wandered the shoreline and played. Beats the hell out of staying in an RV park. Would be especially cool if I had a boat. Kids Fished from the shore, didn’t catch anything  it had fun.

Quiet spots near the water

Very casual campground near the lake. Very basic campsites with table, fire pit, gravel tent site,lantern stand. Fairly clean site but sites are pretty close to one another. Bathrooms were open but not clean and no soap to wash hands. There was a fair bit of road noise during the night that kept us awake.

In the sun

The worst thing about this campground is that there is only one shower/flush toilet facility.  There are some pit toilets available.  All were clean and stocked.  Also no water hookups.  The campsites are spacious and private.  If you like camping on a beautiful lake with lovely sites this place is for you.  There is a marina and boat launch.  Love this campground.  Good service with Verizon.

This is a keeper

Site 23 is very un-level. Water holds right where you come out of your camper, therefore, you are stepping into a mud hole each time you enter and exit your camper. No water hook-up. You fill your camper before getting to your campsite. Due to this site being in-level, you will lose water. Will not stay at this site again and I highly encourage to not stay at this site either unless you like to work your tail off before camping, lol!

Site 23 Needs Improvement 

Loved to see that the campground had so many sites on the water, but the bathrooms were not kept up and barking dogs in the surrounding neighborhoods were the soundtrack of our evening. I suspect that the campground would be fun in the summer (there is a boat ramp right in the campground) but I wouldn’t come back for cool weather camping. 

Not a destination but fine if it’s convenient

Quiet and clean. Enjoyed the electric hookup and place to dump.  Our site was #19. We have a 26 ft travel trailer. Easy to back in and minimal leveling. Alot of trees and grass areas.

Spaces 33 through 43 I would recommend only if you have a small bumper pull that is maybe less than 21 feet long or a class A or class C that’s probably less than 25 feet long. Most of these spaces would be very difficult to get into. We stayed in space 33 without looking first and we had to back our 30 foot fifth wheel down about 100 foot hill around the corner to get into the space. Campsite did have electric and a picnic table. There was a shower building in the next campground over that was on a scale of one to five maybe a three. There were several vault toilets in the area. Nice hiking around to the marina. Was half price with our America, the beautiful senior pass. Also instructions on the Dyrt say to turn down Cow Face Road. I would stay on highway 264 to come into the campground as that road is quite a bit wider and not quite so curvy and hilly. That is the way Google maps was going to send us in the first place, but we followed the instructions on the Dyrt.
