Quartzite - La Paz Valley

Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, this dispersed camping area sits on desert terrain northwest of Quartzsite. The site allows pets and operates without formal check-in procedures, as one camper noted when staying overnight without registration issues. Winter months bring significant crowds of van lifers and RV travelers, though spacing opens up considerably outside rally periods.

Campers report large, open sites with room for generators and multiple air conditioning units during Arizona's intense summer heat. The desert location offers unobstructed sunrise and sunset views across the surrounding landscape. For those seeking more developed amenities, La Posa North BLM Long Term Visitor Areas provides an alternative just half a mile south.

Campers regularly cited the wide open, spacious sites as a major plus. The location works well for overnight stops, though summer heat can be intense. Perfect winter weather draws van lifers.

Great for an overnight

Huge wide open spots when there isn’t a rally!! We stayed one night, ran our generator to cool the rig down once we arrived, and had a huge open spot to ourselves. The sunset and sunrise were stunning. Oh! Also, we didn’t check in and we’re fine

A van lifer’s dream

Quartzite is definitely the Mecca of all Van lifers during the winter months and this time out was no different. You can be in the little town with conveniences or go far out and get away from it all. The weather is perfect and the people are friendly

Convenient but bleak

We needed an overnight stop and this place fit the bill. It was 108 degrees and thankfully we could run both A/C units and hunker in our RV. Honestly, despite the bleak surroundings and heat, we will go back, as the location is good.
