Within the Lower Sonoran Field Office, Peralta Regional Park Primitive Remote Campsites provides tent camping without water or electrical hookups. The Bureau of Land Management operates this established campground at rates ranging from free to $10 per night, with both drive-in and walk-in sites available.
The campground features pit toilets, picnic tables, and allows campfires with firewood available on-site. Cell service reaches the area, and both pets and alcohol are permitted. Campers can access hiking trails directly from the park, though wildlife encounters including rattlesnakes occur along the routes. The sites maintain adequate spacing between each camping spot, and clear night skies provide conditions for stargazing.
Road conditions present the main challenge for visitors. Post-monsoon damage creates rough driving surfaces that may require high-clearance vehicles, particularly after seasonal rains. "The roads are quite rugged from the rains," notes Julie F., though she adds the location "is so quiet and has nice hikes." A camp host position helps maintain the facility when staffed.
The campground serves as a base for exploring camping near Gold Canyon and surrounding desert terrain. Reserve sites in advance during peak seasons, and bring extra water since none is available on-site.
