Shabby park, but friendly residents

When we drove into this park, the first few sites we saw were so shabby and run down that we almost did not stay. But the main area in the back is much better maintained, and sites are level gravel. Spots are close together but there were enough empty spots when we stayed here in late January that we did not feel cramped.

The people here are obviously long timers, and it’s a constant hubbub of activity with people chatting, driving their ATVs in and out, the RV Proctologist (you read that right) coming in and out for repairs, and neighbors gathering around the campfire. People were very friendly here, even to us short timers.

Many resident dogs as well as the owner’s dog wander around loose, and nobody seems to mind.

Campfires are allowed here, you just need to borrow a campfire ring from the office. Firewood not supplied and not available for purchase.

Laundry room was decent, $1.25 for wash and $1 for dry. No change machines available so bring your own quarters.

There is a spot set aside to wash your car, with the basic car washing supplies, including a vacuum, provided for you.

There is an aluminum recycling can by the dumpster.

Free showers that were surprisingly very clean, as well as toilets available here.

We paid $16.25 (incl. tax) with passport america discount. Full price per website is $30 but they offer a variety of discounts, including Escapees and Good Sam. Payment is cash only, credit cards not accepted.

A nice perk at this park: there are a variety of citrus trees (different types of oranges and lemons) throughout that you can pick when in season.

Good AT&T and Verizon reception, i.e. high bars, but for some reason service was so slow as to be almost unusable, even in non-peak times. Not sure why.
