Beautiful campground in the Aspen trees

This campground at approximately 9000 ft elevation, has aspen trees throughout and is just gorgeous. There are two loops - one is reservation, the other is first come first serve. Each space has a table and firepit. The campground host also sells firewood for $10.

Secluded

This campground was beautiful and the sites were so big and spread out. We got 4 sites and ended up only using 2. We were right in the trees and our sites backed up into a meadow. There were not a lot of “amenities” at the campground but we didn’t need any of that. There was an outhouse near our site and it was kept pretty clean. We had 5 adults and 10 kids so we kept to ourselves the entire time we were there. I highly recommend this campground.

Winn Campground

Clean, well kept grounds and very friendly hosts. The only trash receptacle I saw was a dumpster at the entrance, a closer one (by the toilets) would have been nice to get rid of my dog waste bags.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do visitors rate Winn Campground and what should I expect based on reviews?

Winn Campground receives excellent ratings from visitors, with many giving it perfect scores. Campers consistently praise the beautiful setting, which features aspen trees throughout the grounds at an elevation of approximately 9,000 feet. The campground is known for being clean and well-maintained, with friendly and helpful hosts. Sites are notably spacious and well-spread out, offering privacy. Many sites back up to a meadow, providing a scenic natural setting. The campground delivers a peaceful, natural camping experience rather than one with extensive amenities.

What amenities and facilities are available at Winn Campground in Greer, AZ?

Winn Campground offers basic but functional amenities. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. Outhouses/vault toilets are available near the camping areas. The campground has a dumpster located at the entrance for trash disposal. Firewood can be purchased from the campground host for $10. While the amenities are minimal, they meet the essential needs for an enjoyable forest camping experience. The campground prioritizes natural beauty over extensive facilities.

How does Winn Campground compare to other campgrounds in Greer, Arizona?

Winn Campground stands out among Greer-area campgrounds for its high elevation (around 9,000 feet) and beautiful aspen tree setting. It offers a more spacious camping experience with well-separated sites compared to many other options in the region. The campground strikes an excellent balance between accessibility and natural immersion, with sites that back up to meadows providing a sense of seclusion. While other Greer campgrounds might offer more amenities, Winn excels at providing a peaceful, uncrowded forest experience. Its dual system of reservable and first-come sites also offers more flexibility than campgrounds with just one booking method.

Is there a map of Winn Campground showing campsites and layout?

Winn Campground is organized into two distinct loops - one for reserved sites and another operating on a first-come, first-served basis. While a detailed map may not be readily available online, the layout is straightforward and easy to navigate. For the most current and detailed map of the campground, check with the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest office or ask the campground host upon arrival. They can provide information about specific site locations, the meadow areas, and proximity to outhouses.
