Accessible by both vehicle and boat, Whitefish Campground sits along the river within State Patented lands managed by Alaska Department of Natural Resources. Sites cost $20 per night with reservations available, and the campground provides drinking water, restrooms, and picnic tables. ADA accessibility and cell service are available.
Recent campers report enjoying riverside sites with low traffic levels and ample spacing between camping areas. The Lower Chatanika State Recreation Area sits just northwest for additional river access options. Pets and alcohol are permitted throughout the campground.
Description
Whitefish campground is located just off the Elliot Highway along the shore of the Chatanika River. 8 campsites, a reservable picnic shelter, boat launch, and day use parking are accessible seasonally, along with restrooms, potable water, and refuse service. This campground is not maintained in the winter months. Overnight camping, boat launch, and daily parking fees are in effect seasonally.
