Best Dispersed Camping near Lillian, AL

Dispersed camping options near Lillian, Alabama include two primitive sites just across the Florida state line. Mystic Springs offers free camping for both tent and RV users, but requires advance reservations. The terrain is somewhat unlevel with sites best accessed by backing in. Basic amenities include toilets, picnic tables, and trash disposal, but no drinking water, hookups, or shower facilities. According to recent visitors, a site map is essential for navigation as the location can be difficult to find.

Blackwater River Boat Ramp Camp is currently closed indefinitely. Campers report an unofficial area with portable toilets has emerged nearby, but this location sits directly on the roadway and experiences significant crowding. The area permits fires at designated sites when no burn bans are in effect. Neither location provides drinking water; visitors must bring all necessary water supplies. Both sites allow pets and alcohol consumption.

Mystic Springs features several numbered campsites of varying quality. Sites 7, 8, and 9 are noted by campers as particularly desirable, while sites 1 and 2 are connected. The campground is generally described as clean with spacious sites, though trash collection may be inconsistent. Reservation enforcement can be problematic; several campers have reported arriving to find their reserved sites occupied by others. Despite these challenges, the natural setting provides opportunities to experience the sounds of local wildlife in a relatively quiet environment.

    Blackwater River Boat Ramp Camp

    Very crowded

This campground is closed indefinitely. If you drive past it, there's a new area people are using where a port a potty has been placed, but I don't reccomend staying there. It's right on the road and was very crowded.
