Valley of the Rogue State Park Campground

(1) showers and bathrooms in loops D & E are NOT ADA accessible. Dyrt asked me if the campground was accessible and I said yes too quickly- apologies to anyone relying on that info. (2) noise from I-5 is really really loud in a tent and you can see headlights from the road - we were in D32. Maybe better if you get a site farther south away from the highway. Most of the campground has RVs so noise is likely less bad in RV. (3) campground clean, manicured and quiet. Sites decently spaced but fairly open so not much privacy. (4) tent campers beware all sites (except for yurt and group camps) are RV standard with hookups so more expensive. (5) nice walk to rogue river

Great place for a state campground, very peaceful and clean. Showers and restrooms are 24/7 and clean. Right on the river with walking trails.. they offer full hook up, plus have a free dump station.

The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because it's near the interstate and you can hear the vehicles going by at night. But other than that the place is kept well cleaned. They have shower facilities and restrooms and there's not a time limit on there to getting take a shower and use the restroom whenever you want

Easy to access off of the 5 freeway. Many sites to choose from, including day use. Campground was clean. Sites are big enough for our 25 ft travel trailer and Ford F-150 extended bed 4 door. Bathroom were clean but showers are good but warm water lasts 3-4 minutes max. Sites were close to others with no privacy, but wide open spaces and amazing views. A little noisy due to proximity to the freeway.

Very clean and big rig friendly. I have a 38’ fifth wheel and it was no problem!

We really enjoyed staying at this park. Each day we either hiked or biked the local trails. The bike trail goes on for many miles and is quite enjoyable. You can bike into the nearby towns while staying on a safe trail. Overall, we felt things were good: decent restrooms and showers and friendly staff. The park is near a highway, so if you're the camper who wants to sit outside your camper and read a good book to the sounds of nature, this might not be great. But if you are looking to hike/bike/raft in the area or need a place to work, the campground is well managed.

We've been stopping for a quick overnighter going from points a to b. The park has a lot of nice features, including the river and hiking trails, it also has a kids program, campfire nights and the camp hosts are very helpful. Downside is their infrastructure. The power stations are breaking down, the maintenance staff has trouble fixing things because they have no parts, so it's sort of make do. Bull head thorns are sprouting everywhere, we have to be really vigilant when walking our dogs.

Water is good. T mobil and att work really well. There is also a separate dump station that is clean and well kept. The trash guy actually empties the dog waste bins as well as the normal waste bins.

Unless you sleep on a cot by yourself, avoid site b2.

This is a great first night stopping point when heading south from Portland on I5. So close to the hiway. Nice spots and a view of the river.

I'd consider this more of a stop over point than a real camping destination, but it serves the purpose so well. Love our Oregon State Parks!

Right off I-5 so if traffic noise bothers you this may not be the place for you. Lower part of D loop tends to be buffered by the hill and sites in E loop. The road for the sites in C loop is a bit small but can be managed.
This is a reservation only state park but you can make the reservations day of before getting there. A loop is now Yurts and group camping.

We were here over Labor Day weekend and although full, the campgound was quiet except for occasional traffic noise, mainly big rigs or loud groups of motorcyclist.

This campground is huge! We were in F loop, which is the last loop of the campground and our site was a partial hook-up site on the outside edge so we had a nice view of fields behind us. It was pretty much full sun though and the weekend (Fri-Sun) we were there it was HOT! On Friday when we arrived it was in the upper 90s with pretty high humidity. We pretty much ran our a/c non-stop. Saturday was overcast so we had a bit of a reprieve from the sun, it was still in the mid to upper 80s though. It was a nice walk to the paved trail and there were dirt trails off of that to get down to the river. Even though we had our a/c on at night, I could still hear the peaceful sound of crickets and other night time noises and I found the park to be fairly quiet even though it is right along I-5. There was a ton of space between our site and the sites on either side of us.

We did prior reservations, but the f loop was mostly empty. We had to book online, triggering the $8 convenience fee which is frustrating. The sites are nice, large and well spaced but pretty close to the highway from a noise standpoint. Showers are available, and flush toilets., we'll normally.... lightning took out power just as we arrived and that kills sewers to the showers too. River access is not what I had hopped for, no rocky beach to lay chairs and play with a dog. Instead there is a wonderful river path with intermittent drops down into the river. It was running very fast when we where thwre and this didn't seem a great option for getting the dog a swim. Nice bike path that goes all the way into town. Hopefully power get restored soon, it's over 100F.

I had a lovely stay here. It is clean and the views are beautiful. The camp host on Loop D was friendly and kind. No one bothered me. I just loved it here. I have a little older trailer a 2009 and they did not make me feel unwanted like some parks do. I would recommend this park to ALL!!! I meditate and I did not feel uncomfortable at all here meditating outside my RV. Thank you!! ◇◇◇

We had a relaxing time during our stay at the campground the yurt was warm and cozy, and has a beautiful skylight that you can open if you so choose. You will need to bring your own bedding as it’s only provides you with the furniture there’s electricity as well, but no other amenities in the yurt. The facilities were clean and easily accessible. We would definitely stay here again 

Nice, clean campground while en route.  Quiet, pet-friendly, power and water are available.  Septic is available.  Not crowded, sites open during the week, even in August.

Convenient location right off I5. We enjoyed walking the dogs on the river access trail. Close to the highway but noise wasn’t an issue. Will stay here again on our next trip north.

While not a destination campground, this is a great place to spend a night or two on your way to somewhere else.

We spent two nights in Loop F in site F26. We did not have reservations, but there were plenty of sites available. No leveling needed, ample shade, and water/electric hookups. The sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but they make up for that in size and spacing.

The campground is right by I-5 so there is a fair amount of road noise during the day, but even as a light sleeper, I didn’t notice it at night.

Big bonus for us were the paved and dirt trails along the river to walk the dogs.

Really great area. Near the highway but surprisingly quiet. We got a electric site since the tents were all reserved. Kinda expensive but I was just glad to have a place to sleep. Pretty area!

Lovely campground right off I-5. Very welcome reprieve after driving for hours through the pouring rain. There's a really nice paved trail along the river that you can take all the way to town if you have the time.

I planned to camp here a couple of days but after driving hours to get here, I decided to use the rest rooms in the rest area. Absolutely disgusting and overflowing. Unreal.

Beautiful park next to the Rogue River.

Nice place. A bit crowded, but other than that, I liked it.

Do Not let the close proximity to I-5 keep you from staying here. We are on B loop and while outside the traffic noise is audible, it gets lost in the wind through the trees. Southern Oregon is currently in a extreme drought, so absolutely no open fires are allowed. Still many access points to get to the Rogue River abound. Full hookups Great campground

We have stayed at a few spots here. If you are by the freeway it can be noisy. If you are by the river, it's awesome. Clean bathrooms and showers. Convenient access to Interstate 5. The Oregon Park staff are friendly and helpful.

We just stayed one night with some fellow rv’ers. They were in spot C11 which has 3 trees PERFECT for 2 hammocks and great shade. We were in B30 which was just ok. Overall it’s a nice park with trails but I felt like we were being nitpicked by the camp hosts about everything. Our wheels on the “grass” which is weeds and it was half a wheel. The kids were riding scooters and got scolded about helmets and then we were rushed out at 1pm on Sunday....Mother’s Day even tho nobody had reserved our spot and they can’t check until 4. Anyway, other than that it was quiet n simple.

Great RV sites that are close to the River with FHU’s. Hiking paths border the river and connect the many camping loops. Stayed in loop B which has back-in’s and drive throughs. Knowledgeable Camp Hosts in all loops. Easy on/off access to I-5, 10 miles south of Grants Pass and 15 miles North of Medford. Oregon State Park website and contract call-in reservations.

Camp ground was full so I had to find somewhere else after driving. $19 a night for tent camping.
