Sleeper State Park Campground

The lake right next door is beautiful, will definitely be coming back during summer! Loved the secluded location of the camp and the quiet atmosphere, despite lots of people. Also loved all the hiking trails around!

Went later September on a Saturday and it was perfect. Good mix of tents and rv’s. Everyone was respectful and the whole campground was pretty quiet despite being essentially full. Bathrooms were clean, stocked, with plenty of hot water. Didn’t shower there but there is a ton of showers. Beach was a crazy close walk and really impressive. Even a pet friendly beach too. Camp host had fun activities for the kids (my kids claim this was the best time of the trip) as well as tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Staff was incredibly friendly

My Family and Friends had a great time here. Very nice and quite if you like that. Good spacious spots.  Many sites are wide so they lend themselves to good group camping so you can pull sideways and open up to all in your group. We had great spots with the others we were with.

Sorry, I hate writing negative reviews, but this place deserves it.

Pros- the beach is fantastic, staff is excellent.

Cons- looks like they tried to cram in as many sites as possible, even on unlevel terrain. I can't imagine how ugly it would get during rainstorms with the mud.

$34/night is way too high. I've seen way better dry camping spots. This was our 3rd Michigan SP on our long trip, & we are really disappointed in this one.

Campground maintenance. Electrical hookups are too far away from the site. They jam a lot of campers in here. The beach is across the street and caseville is next door which helps up the reviews. I would prefer to stay at the caseville county park instead.

A nice campground with two loops. Can be tricky getting a large RV in especially during bigger holidays but the sites are large and you can park you camper a few different ways. Decent trails. Beach access across the road. There is a pet friendly section of the beach. Lots of pets here. The bathrooms in the east loop are older and not that great but the other loop has a nice modern bathroom. Sites are mostly flat more so on the eastern loop. We had a nice visit.

Great location for renting, right by bathrooms and beautiful park

I’m all fairness let me start by saying I’m more of a rustic camper. The state parks are just too crowed for me! First site 29 there was no way I could stay, my hitch would have dug the dirt. They did let me move to a much better site.

Mostly flat sites. There are no pull-through sites. You are given a plot of land and you can configure you campsite however you like. There is a beach on Sturgeon Bay.

We arrived at the campground and it’s right across the street from the beach in their day use area. You are also not far from many other beaches if you are looking for options. There is an awesome farmers market in Port Austin on Saturdays which is within 15 mins of the campground. The park ran into issues with their water on our half of the park to the point they had to fully shutdown the restrooms/showers and water spigots. Our side(to the west) had the nicer bathrooms and showers setup individually outside the restrooms which were recently upgraded. We got diverted to the other end where bathrooms were dated and had only two showers for each sex inside their specific bathrooms. It was disappointing for sure. Our specific site was tight for a larger trailer because of a large tree right next to the road at the corner making it hard to maneuver around and place trailer away from the fire pit.

Like most Michigan State Parks, you get electric (50/30) at your site, period. There's public water available at various spots, but not at your site. Rangers are a good bunch here, friendly, helpful and work to keep things in line.

Most sites are very sandy (the whole place is ancient dunes), but dries pretty fast after rain. Dunno what one review is talking about, this place has tons of trees & shade in probably 90% of the park.

Beach is across the highway with a pedestrian bridge. Water levels have eroded most MSP beaches, but this one is still usable.

There's a couple concrete ADA sites, often occupied by non-ADA campers. ADA sites are pull thru.

Bathhouses are ok. Nothing fancy, but have been clean in my experiences.

Can get a little loud on weekends and holidays, but during the week it's mostly peaceful.

We stayed 3 times last year, and have already booked again this year.

Sites are not shaded or secluded at all. But the stretch of sandy Huron beach in the park is still fantastic, despite high lake levels. LOVE the campground coffee cart.

We have gone to this campground a few times - specifically for their Halloween festivities. This past year they weren’t as exciting as they have been (no hay ride in the forest) but still fun!! Campsites have always been a decent size and we always enjoy visiting the beach across the road. Clean bathrooms and always a good atmosphere while we are there.

Beautiful park with a great location. Private beaches and trails make this park feel very secluded. My family and friends love it!

We camped in the west loop area of the state park with our dog and it was an awesome trip! The campsites were tidy, the bathrooms were exceptionally clean, and the location to the beach was perfect. The road was a little noisy but when you had some music going it wasn’t too bad. The stars were crystal clear at night and all the campers were respectful and quiet. If you need any essentials there’s a convenience store right around the corner from the campground and there’s cute downtown Caseville only a couple minute drive away. The beach was pretty empty and the dog beach was a huge plus for us as our dog loves to swim. For sure will come back!

If you’re looking for sandy beaches during the day, and some of the best star-gazing, you’ll want to stay here! Campsites are pretty open to the public, but it’s a good way to make friends! We had no issues with the bathrooms, and the beach was clean. VERY easy to get to! We went in July and can’t wait to go back.

love this camp ground. this campground is in my blood I have been going there since I was a little kid and now I take my kids.

Last June my buddy and I did a quick overnight at this campground. It's a few miles outside of Caseville, which has a huge Cheeseburger In Paradise festival every year if you're a Jimmy Buffet fan.

Anyway, we were on an inside site and the campground was fairly quiet, not much road noise at night. Also Saginaw Bay is right across the road and it's got a great beach for day use. Would definitely stay again!
