WinMan BaseCamp

Overview

WinMan BaseCamp is a newly developed campground operated by WinMan Trails, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit, located on the grounds of the WinMan Trails multi-sport trail system in Winchester, Wisconsin (Vilas County). Situated on 1,300 acres of private and public land in Wisconsin's Northwoods, BaseCamp places guests steps from 25+ miles of mountain bike trails, hiking routes, cross-country ski trails, and snowshoe paths. It is designed for trail users who want on-site lodging without commuting to the trailhead.

Facilities

When complete, BaseCamp will offer more than 40 sites including rustic tent sites, RV sites, tiny cabins, and large cabins. All tent and RV sites are outfitted with parking pads, fire pits, picnic tables, and grass. Two bathhouses serve the campground: the primary Pop's Lodge features toilets, showers, sauna, a central gathering space, and Wi-Fi; a secondary bathhouse on the east side of the campground provides additional restrooms and showers. A ski wax room and bike maintenance station are also planned within the bathhouse. A WinMan Shop on-site sells snacks, beverages, bike and ski supplies, and branded gear.

Recreation

Guests have direct trail access to the full WinMan Trails system, including 25+ miles of machine-built mountain bike singletrack, nearly 10 miles of hiking and trail running, 23+ km of groomed cross-country ski trails (skate and classic), approximately 10 miles of groomed fat tire bike trails, and snowshoeing routes. A skills park and pump track are also part of the broader trail complex.
