Summersville Lake Retreat is your jumping off point to all that there is to do in beautiful Southern West Virginia from spending the day on Summersville lake to exploring the New River Gorge National Park, we are 15 minutes from everything! You can stay with us in a variety of ways across our 57 acre wooded retreat with many sites that overlook Summersville Lake or have other fantastic views. We offer camping in one of our cabins or in your own RV, camper, tent, or hammock. Our large cabins are built onsite by Appalachian craftsmen out of native hemlock and are fully outfitted from the cookware to the linens and some are even equipped with hot tubs and fireplaces. Our Tiny Cabins and Vintage camper rentals are just right for your weekend glamping needs. Our RV sites are a variety of full hook up, water/electric, and primitive wooded sites to cover all camping styles. We are Open Year Round for Cabins & RV's.

We take great pride in our wonderful amenities from our clean bathrooms and showers, pirate ship playground, huge dog park, hammock hangout, table tennis area, community fire pits, picnic shelters, cornhole arena, horseshoe pits, gift shop and camp store, and of course our working lighthouse that you can climb 10 stories to the see the views for miles.

The Best Camping Near Summersville Lake, West Virginia

This place is an awesome private campground with the exception of hills &amp; roots in their camping spots. It's to be expected since you are in the hills. Their bathrooms &amp; showers are cleaned and well maintained. They have an outdoor sink to wash dishes. RV camping as well. A great playground too for the kids. Just bring hammocks or extra padding to sleep. Super friendly and quiet place. Summersville is a pretty lake. Fayetteville is close &amp; a really cute town. Bridge Day happens at a near bye bridge over the New River.

Great private campground

Nice and quiet but no amenities. The bathrooms weren’t in any where close to great shape. The sites are pretty close. The staff is really nice though.

Other campgrounds have more to offer

First time at Summersville to camp. Great atmosphere and good amenities. Camp sites spread out enough to where campers are not directly on top of each other. However, their guest policy is a little annoying, have to register them in before 8 pm and not able to pay for your guests in the morning if the guests arrive late (my guests were going to come and probably not stay the night, but there was a chance that they could stay). 

1st Time at Summersville 

I’m 42 yrs old and I’ve been camping at Summersville Lake since shortly after I was given birth too( no joke)! Therefore I’ve been camping at Summersville for my whole life! The camping is perfect, the lake is gorgeous, and the memories we’ve made over all these years can never be forgotten! It’s without a doubt a place to enjoy yourself and the amenities are top notch! Just thinking about it, makes me want to pack up and go!

The Best Place to Camp in WV!

Dave and Kim are great people, have a beautiful and well cared for campground very close to the Gauley River. 

Beautiful and clean 

We loved this campground.  Very central location to everything.   Super dog friendly, clean bathrooms, and everyone who works there were great.   We loved our site plenty of space and were not on top of our neighbors.

Perfect Location 

We had a great time here. A very clean, peaceful, and enjoyable campground. The staff were amazing and will definitely be back soon! Our site worked out but if your entry door is at the back of the camper you could have troubles, other than that we lived it.

The staff here is wonderful. You check in in a fantastic little gift shop adjacent to the lighthouse 
The gift shop has everything from mugs to camping needs.. and a lovely selection of local wine (seasonally)
The lighthouse who's moved here by the last owners and designed interiorly by local students
there is a person on staff and the area is password-controlled 
we tent camped it was very safe there was a low number of animals from what we could see 
they had accommodations of small campers for up to four people and then they have several regular size lodges 
they have a firewood service until 7:00 p.m. where they deliver would directly to your site and charge it to your listed card...
