Swimming, paddling, and crabbing draw campers to Odlin County Park on Lopez Island, where a long sandy beach runs along the waterfront and forested sites sit back among large trees. The campground sits close to the ferry landing, making it one of the more accessible spots in the San Juan Islands for those arriving by boat or vehicle. Sites 1 through 13 face the water, with views across the passage toward Shaw Island. Spencer Spit State Park Campground and Lopez Farm Cottages & Tent Camping are among the other options on the island for campers wanting to compare.
The campground includes a boat launch, drinking water, and clean pit toilets, though there are no showers or electrical hookups on site. RVs up to 30 feet can use water hookup sites. Walk-in sites provide more separation from neighboring campers, while the beach-adjacent RV and car sites have less privacy between them. Deer have been spotted wandering through campsites. Cell coverage is inconsistent throughout the park, with AT&T generally more available and Verizon showing dead spots in places.
Shaw Island County Park sits across the water for those exploring campgrounds near Lopez Island more broadly. Back at Odlin, Dale P. sums up the appeal well: "Sites are spacious and offer wonderful views of the sound." Reservations are available 90 days in advance and are essentially required in July and August. Lopez Village, a short ride or drive away, has a grocery store and shower facilities for a suggested donation of two dollars.
