Pull-offs along the road through the Ancient Lakes area make up Burke Lake South, a drive-in and walk-in site on the northwest bank of Evergreen Reservoir within places to camp around Quincy Lakes. Sites are fully exposed with no shade, so spring visits before the heat sets in tend to work best. Pit toilets are nearby, AT&T and Sprint cell service is available, and a Washington Discover Pass is required. Anglers come for rainbow trout, while the canyon below gives access to a trail network open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horses. Arrive early on weekends, as spots fill by late afternoon.
