A Washington Discover Pass gets you into this dispersed area managed by WDFW within the Methow Wildlife Area Complex, where roughly a dozen pull-off spots line the forest road and a few additional sites sit at the upper end near Sullivan Pond. Four-wheel drive with good clearance is recommended. The road conditions come up in nearly every review, so lower-clearance vehicles should approach with caution.
Sullivan Pond itself can run low by midsummer. One visitor noted the water was nearly dried out during a July trip, so campers counting on a full pond should plan accordingly. Mosquitoes are active, particularly in early summer, and fire restrictions typically apply through the warmer months despite campfires being permitted in other seasons. Cell service is listed as available, which makes this a reasonable staging stop before heading deeper into the Cascades.
Crowd levels stay low. Only two other visitors were spotted during one mid-summer stay, and the area sits within open terrain with broad sightlines toward the surrounding hills. Roger H. describes it as "a dispersed area for open camping with plenty of room for tents or campers," which holds up across the other reviews as well. Pets are permitted, and alcohol is allowed. Campers who prefer developed facilities with a lake that reliably holds water may want to look at Pearrygin Lake State Park Campground to the south, or check places to camp around Winthrop for a broader range of setups.
