  Ike Kinswa State Park Campground

  Camping amongst the tall trees

  This campground is on Mayfield Lake where the Cowlitz River flows into the lake. We were in loop D, which was the only open loop along with the cabins (cabins are loop C and attached to loop D). This is a partial hook-up loop. Full hook-ups are in loop A. The campground is heavily wooded which is really nice for shade, though it can make it tricky to get into a spot if you have slide outs. As we were on the outer part of the loop in a pull-through site, we had a view of the woods and quite a bit of space between neighboring sites. We could not see either of the neighboring sites while sitting by our campfire. There was a trail to the trash compactor next to our site, but it did not seem to be heavily used. The trash compactor is probably a good 1/4 mile down this trail by the dump station. It was very quiet at night, which was fantastic! Very good Verizon cell service. The day use area is out of the campground and across the main road. There is a playground and beach area. It would have been nice if there was a playground on the campground side of the park.

  Toutle River RV Resort

  I5 access

  We stayed 3 nights at Toutle River RV Resort now owned by RV Inn Style chain. Quiet and respectful campers with paroling friendly staff. I5 access is perfect, although road and train noise could be bothersome for some campers as the campground is nestled in between. The camp store and pool were open. The playground, disk golf and basketball hoops accessible but the pickle ball courts had been removed since we last visited. Sites range from open to treed with many of the pick nick tables needing refurbished. Full hookups with gravel pads for 70+$$ per night. WiFi isn’t free, must be purchased. We had spotty cell service with Verizon though we were directly off I5 corridor. The public restrooms were clean, but mostly under construction while we were camping. Many full timers w/park models and trailer/RV’s sprinkled throughout the park. All-in-all we will stay here again in the future and happy to do so.

  Bayport RV Park and Campground

  Normally not a four star RV park but considering the price...

  Came here so I can kayak and calm waters. The slabs are mostly level and each spot is large with a nice picnic table and fire pit but neighbors are fairly close and not much privacy. Showers are quarter timed showers and I've seen much better and cleaner. They do have waste of disposal for a fee but they offer drinking water and full Electric and water but no sewage hookup you pay at the dump station. However it's very close to town which is very convenient and has great access to the water as compared to many other places where you have to drive à ways.

  Kemp Olson Memorial Park

  Nice, small and largely undiscovered CG

  We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow, were meeting friends in the area and visiting Mt. Rainier. The CG has seen some recent improvements, including graveling of the 12 campsite pads. Some of the sites have picnic tables, none of them have fire pits, and only one, site 12, has a grill. We were in site 2 for 4 days in early September. Ours was one of 2 pull-throughs, but ours was on the inside of the loop, which put the utilities on the correct side, but the awing side was close to the road and a large tree, so we had to setup chairs and such on the utility side. Most of the sites are pretty well spaced. There were only a handful of campers here when we arrived on the Friday before the Labor Day weekend and come Saturday, there were only two left besides us. Unfortunately, one of the two remaining was a long-timer, maybe the grounds keeper(?), who often let his little dog run loose in the CG, and though friendly enough, it barked at those who passed near it. The park has a playground and a coin operated water fountain for the kids. There is an elementary school next door, so it can get a little raucous when the kids are outside. There were quite a few low hanging branches throughout the CG, but most were fairly small. I did mention this to the Toledo City Hall, who said they would put it on the list. Although there is a faded“Free WiFi Zone” as you enter the park, we were not able to detect one. AT&T coverage good, ranging from 3-4 Bars of LTE with speeds up to 15 MB/s.   Riverbend Campground

  Nice campground with friendly staff

  Interesting the other review was for a first time out with their travel trailer!  Same for us!

  We got site 106 which was the furthest one out, it was right along the river.  The site has a concrete slab and fit our Jayco 174BH perfectly.  

  This site does is a back in, but the slab is at a 90 degree angle from the drive.  So you will have to back your trailer around a corner if you plan to park it on the slab.  Didn't see other sites like this.  

  The campground did have a very small selection of items to buy, but mainly snacks.  They do fill propane tanks, but only during week days.

  The site had water and electrical, but no sewer connections.  they do have a nice dump station.

  The camp ground itself did have at least 2 pet areas neither are fenced so a leash is required, along with a playground for the kids.

  We have Verizon and had no issues with cell signal at this campground.

  Also, this is a private campground, so they have a guy that stands at the gate to open it when guests come arrive.

  Kemp Olson Memorial Park

  Good for a quick overnight

  Quaint and quiet town. Small quiet park with electric and water and a dump station. Site two is a pull through that is not set up right to have your awning on the correct side (see photo). Other pull through was too small for our 33’ tt. Sites adequately spaced for some privacy. Nice playground for kids and horseshoe courts. Dog friendly. Nice drive over white pass from Yakima.

  Best place in Washington state

  This is the cleanest, most cared for camping site I have ever been to. The owners Tom and Brian, make your stay very enjoyable. They care about you having a great experience, whether you’re a first time camper or a seasoned camper. They have a great store with snacks, wine, beer, and local sourced goods. They have games you can use while you are there, like corn hole and board and card games, free of charge. Sites are large for travel trailers and motor homes, they also have tent and group sites. Trailer and motor home sites have power and water, there is a dump station you can use on your way home free of charge. The bathrooms are large and very clean, the shower is 4 quarters for 6 minutes, those of us who try to take a 3 minute shower in our rigs so we don’t run through all the hot water so our partner can have a shower without waiting for the water to get hot again it’s a blessing. In the evening Tom or Brian drive through the park seeing if anyone needs ice or firewood, if there’s not a burn ban, bring a propane fire pit for your camping experience. They also sell propane so no fears on running out. The best thing is you are under a large canopy of trees which helps to keep you cool even on the hottest days. There is a small creek to put your chair in and put your feet in the water. Our first year there we brought 4 other people, this year it was 28. We make Elkcamp our yearly get together. Family friendly and a great place to unwind. You’re only a few miles from mineral lake, bring your trunks, inner tube, or your paddle boards. I’d give it a solid 10 out of 10.

  Bayport RV Park and Campground

  Nice county park

  Clean and close to town. Lots of good restaurants nearby (~2 miles). Most sites are paves. Most sites have water year round except the center ones. Decent showers but it costs $0.25 for 2.5 minutes. Sewer dump station costs $15 per use.

  2 week at a time limit. Total 60 days a year limit.

  Nice state park on a lake

  General: Medium-sized park (100 sites plus several cabins) located on Mayfield Lake with three loops: two with hookups and one without. We stayed in the loop without hookups.

  Site Quality/Facilities: The sites are very generous in size with LONG paved driveway pads. The sites on the outer side of the loops are pull-throughs and the ones on the interior are back-in. Large wooden picnic table and a fire ring complete the site (although as with the entire state, there was a burn ban in effect). The sites are all heavily wooded, providing good separation between the sites. 

  Bathhouse: Small – two stalls plus two showers – and dated. No hooks or other options to store toiletries and no garbage receptacle. 50 cents for every three minutes of shower time. Didn’t use the shower so cannot comment on the quality but I have definitely seen better showers. 

  Activities: Water sports. There were plenty of motorboats out on the lake (not my thing but if it is yours, this looked like a good lake for watercraft). The loops are paved and I saw many riding their bikes. There is a trail that skirts the lake– a little over a mile point to point but with many paths leading from the campground loops. Rocky with lots of tree roots but very scenic. 

  Very pleasant stay here and would return.
