Boat-in access only means arriving at Hope Island Marine State Park Campground requires a kayak or other watercraft. Paddlers commonly launch from Arcadia Point near Taylor Town off Hwy 101, crossing east to the island. The eight primitive sites are first-come, first-served, and waterfront spots fill quickly. At $12 per night, the campground includes vault toilets, picnic tables, and beaches, with two miles of hiking trails on the island. Clam digging is available in season. Those planning a multi-stop paddling route through South Puget Sound can browse campsites near Shelton to round out an itinerary. Bring all drinking water, as on-site water availability is unconfirmed by recent visitors.
