We visited in April. Beautiful days hiking nearby, cold nights. Pet friendly. Pretty clean bath house. Visitors center nearby. Sites were mostly level, with gravel, fire pit, picnic table. Some were classically wooded, shady and some in the bright sun. Cute small town nearby.
Didn't know what to expect. Very quiet area. Some spots are near I74 but most are not. Large lake and history here. Close to town to see the local legends hometown.
Family-friendly campground with plenty of fun activities for kids. Playground, fishing pond, disc golf, recreation and game area, and ice cream trailer. Our site was nicely shaded and fairly level. Fire pit and picnic table at each site. There appears to be a lot of long-term residents but all…
No low cars! Don't expect much but multiple sites are cleared. Some with picnic tables.
Great park with large sites and plenty of space between sites.Bathrooms were clean and we'll maintained.plenty of hiking and creek wading opportunities as well as fishing.also the Blue Ridge Parkway is close by for exploring.
Very friendly and welcoming! We were arriving after hours, so they left our site packet outside the office door with all of the info we needed! Had great wifi! Full hookup sites! Level spots. Had nice playgrounds!
This is a really chill spot near Boone. We stayed in one of the tipis, and it was an awesome glamping experience
The bathrooms were clean.
Everyone staying here was really nice and chill. It feels a little hippie which is neat.
If you’re pulling a camper, the road would be a little rough, but…
We truly love this campground- it’s our favorite spot!
There are amazing trails in this state park, if that’s your thing.
The bath house on the rv loop is nice and big. They keep it pretty clean. It’s definitely nicer than the bathhouses at many other state parks.
The sites are pretty spread…

Pros: Free, many sites with water access for kayaking/fishing, fire rings, parking lot close to sites. Cons: Lots of road noise-- you're sitting in a valley bordered by highway on 3 sides, and the echo is serious. Trash everywhere making some sites unusable. Lots of poison ivy.
So, if it's worth…
This was a really nice stay, but it was just overnight for us. Took about 20-30 mins off of 77. Site 55 is the best site, but the hardest to get into with an RV. Beautiful views and area. Camp hosts really friendly and helpful. Explored the park in the morning before we left and I know we will be…

This is a small quite camp ground with horse stables. Husband and wife working there were very nice. Campground consist of a fire ring in the middle with benches and tables surrounded by back-in camp sites. There was a nice clean bathhouse with showers. Free firewood. No pool or playground, but…
We stayed at Site E14 during a weekend in July. The campground is in an excellent location, just 5-10 minutes away from downtown Blowing Rock and of course it’s right on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway! Our site was peaceful and shaded, easily fit our 14 foot teardrop with screen room and our…
We were unable to make it up in our car. Roads were very rough and dangerous. We passed several jeeps before one drug addict told us we could make it the road was washed out and we would need a 4x4. After further inquire we learned there was not a campground at all but a local spot to go mudding…
