Leesville Lake Campground, LLC

Reservations are available at this privately operated RV-friendly campground in Gretna, Virginia, where nightly rates run $55 and sites accommodate rigs up to 70 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer. Access requires navigating a rough road, and reviewers note that fast-moving traffic along the main road, which splits the campground into two sections, is worth factoring into site selection. The sites on one side are notably easier to pull into, so larger rigs may want to confirm placement with the owners before arrival.

The campground sits in a mix of forested and open terrain close to Leesville Lake. Lake access is a short walk down the main road, though there are no dedicated trails, just a picnic area at the water's edge. Anglers can reach a boat ramp nearby, and the lake also works for kayaking and paddleboarding, though natural debris in the water calls for some caution. Campers planning a longer stay in the region can also look at Smith Mountain Lake State Park Campground as a nearby alternative.

Sites are dirt and gravel, and Robert H. notes "water and sewer with good accessibility and pressure also." The owners live on site and are consistently described across reviews as hands-on and willing to help back in rigs. Amenities include showers, laundry, a pool, and WiFi, though some facilities were closed during an off-season visit. Those passing through the area and curious about camping near Hurt will find this campground a functional base with direct lake proximity.

Guests frequently mentioned friendly on-site owners and updated electrical hookups as standout features. Most found sites clean with decent leveling, though winter closures of facilities were noted by some visitors.

Just a spot to park.

Stayed here due to location for a few days as we where passing through the area, hard to find much open in winter. Lots of down trees for expansion, really fast traffic coming down main road that splits campground. Can walk to the lake down the main road, no trails just a picnic area. Laundry and bathhouse where closed when we were there. Felt it was expensive for what it was.

Pleasant Stopover

We stayed at Leesville Lake Campground on our way to and from a visit to Washington, DC. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We stayed at the level sites across the street: easy-in, easy-out. Some of the sites on the other side of the street looked like they might be a challenge to get into. You might want to talk to the owners about that before you settle on a site.

The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful! They walk you right to your site and help back you in! It's a 5 minute walk down to the lake.

This is the owner's labor of love

Cozy campground with well updated 20/30/50 Amp service on new pedestals. Water and sewer with good accessibility and pressure also. Sites are clean, dirt and gravel. Not all completely level, but no extremes either. Pool, bath house and laundry very accessible. Propane is installed but not yet in service. Coming very soon. The owners have truly made this a labor of love. They live on site and will attend to your every need. Working constantly and diligently to update all amenities. Great fks to have a chat with. Very interesting. A short walk, even shorter drive to the dam and decent fishing at the boat ramp. The lake has a lot of natural debris, but with reasonable caution, boating, kayaking and paddle boarding is very closeby All in all, very cozy campground with plans to expand in the future. Give them a try.
