Seth Warner Shelter

Seth Warner Shelter offers basic backcountry accommodations with sleeping space for 6-7 people. The shelter includes a fire pit for cooking and warmth, though caution should be exercised during dry conditions. There are no running water facilities, electricity, or modern bathroom facilities. Hikers should be prepared to filter water from nearby sources. Bear and raccoon activity has been reported in the area, so proper food storage (hanging food bags) is essential.

Seth Warner Shelter is located 0.2 miles off the Long Trail/Appalachian Trail junction in Vermont. To access the shelter, you'll need to hike along the Long Trail or Appalachian Trail to the shelter spur trail. The shelter is positioned strategically for through-hikers on either trail, making it a convenient overnight stopping point. Be prepared for potentially wet trail conditions, as the Long Trail can be quite muddy depending on recent weather.

Seth Warner Shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no formal reservation system. There is typically no fee to stay at the shelter, as it's maintained as part of the Long Trail/Appalachian Trail system. However, during peak hiking season (summer months and fall foliage), the shelter may fill quickly, especially in the evening.
