Free dispersed camping on BLM land draws campers to this desert site featuring prominent rock formations and wide-open spaces. The area centers around a large climbable rock with small caves that some visitors use for shelter, while the main camping zone below offers soft soil and shade from leafy trees. Access requires a dirt road that can handle most vehicles, though 4WD provides more confidence on bumpier sections.
Campers report noise from nearby shooting activities and occasional sounds from Dugway Proving Grounds. The open terrain works well for RVs and larger groups, with ample room for ATVs and dirt bikes. Spring visits avoid the intense desert heat, as natural shade remains limited. White Rock Springs sits just over a mile south for those seeking additional options in the area.
Description
White Rocks is a unique uplifted geomorphic rock formation in the south end of Skull Valley near Dugway, Utah. This site provides excellent opportunities for dispersed camping, hiking, climbing, and photography. The cone shaped rock formations rise several hundred feet off the desert floor and are fun to explore and climb around on for kids and adults. Sandy soils and juniper shade trees make it a great location for spring and fall camping. No developed facilities, water, or restrooms. No fees are required.
