Ashley National Forest manages Pole Creek Lake Campground, a small, low-cost site in the Uinta Mountains near Duchesne, Utah, open from early June through late August. The road in from the west on Route 117 runs rough, while the eastern route is noticeably smoother, so trip direction is worth planning in advance. No water, showers, or power are available on-site, but the campground has toilets, bear-proof trash service, and picnic tables, with a short walk down to the lake. Campers looking for campgrounds around Whiterocks will find this a reasonable staging point for the area. Cash is required for the $5 fee.
