Spacious!!
I have never had such wide spread out spaces in any state campground. It was amazing. The spaces were level, lots of grass and enough trees to provide shade at every spot too. The campground is just outside of town and next to the river. The river level was low so the swimming area was disappointing at the time we were there. Campground was so quiet. At night there was a bit of road noise, but mostly drowned out by the sound of crickets. Restrooms were clean. Bike path is really nice.
Mosquitoes
Nice campground, too many mosquitoes. Campground is close to a swamp infested with mosquitoes.
Beautiful park in the middle of town
Although we don’t normally camp within city centers, this place was a pleasant surprise. Large and sprawling, there are large grassy areas and walking/biking trails all over the campground and area. Bathrooms are clean. Showers require tokens; $1=2 tokens=6 minutes. Not a fan of pay showers inside a pay campground. But, they only have two per bathroom, so it keeps some people who take hour long showers (oh, I’ve seen them, no joke!) from hogging the stalls. Sites are concrete with tent pads, and some are nicely shaded. Host and staff are friendly, too. Someone was in our non-electric spot when we arrived. The host put us at a full hookup spot for no extra charge because the guy pulled into the wrong spot. Our gain!
