No camping

There are not designated tent camping areas only the lodge and cottages with reservable picnic areas. Would be awesome if they would add this options for a backpacking overnight option.

Great getaway

Pine Mountain State Resort Park offers some really cool trails and is Kentucky first state park. Pretty rustic and clean cabins. One really cool feature is Chained Rock which is a giant bolder that is tethered to the mountain to protect the small town below in case it falls.

Scenic Cabins, Beautiful Hikes

We stayed in the cabins and they are well-maintained and stocked. Pretty rustic, but the fireplaces are worth it and make it extra cozy. They are also pet-friendly! Our dog loves the outdoors, so it’s always a bonus when we can take her with us. We have been back multiple times. Great hiking, we recommend the trail that leads to where 3 states meet. It’s a fairly easy hike and ends with a great view. We have been multiple times, and each season has it's different appeal of beauty!

Cottages

Lots of events in the park, check the calendar for those you want to see or to avoid. There’s also a golf course, ziplining, and hotel on site. So while the site and views are beautiful we didn’t really find the solitude and nature experience we were looking for. Cottages are very modern, like a hotel room. Definitely worth visiting, especially if you’re not looking to rough it.

Up, Up, Up and Up...and Up

Cloudsplitter 50K is the way to see this area. The trails are very challenging , but the view is totally worth it. Very primitive , rocky trail. Walking sticks would be a bonus and carry water a snacks with you to keep your energy up. Primitive camping available spots.
