Mountain Pass Campground

Kayakers and anglers find direct access to the Powell River at this RV-focused campground in eastern Tennessee. Mountain Pass Campground sits along the riverbank with both drive-in and boat-in access options, accommodating RVs up to 40 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections.

The campground maintains a family-oriented atmosphere with strictly enforced quiet hours. Ellen S. notes that "kayaking the Powell River was a joy," highlighting the water recreation opportunities available directly from the property. While primarily designed for RVs, tent camping is available upon request. The access road requires careful navigation, particularly for larger rigs.

Full amenities include restrooms, showers, a dump station, and WiFi connectivity. The campground enforces rules consistently to maintain its quiet environment, making it less suitable for groups seeking a party atmosphere. Campers can resupply or explore additional camping spots outside Shawanee, located about four miles southeast.

Mountain Pass Campground works well for RV travelers prioritizing river access and a rule-enforced quiet environment over extensive recreational facilities.

Many campers appreciated the beautiful riverside setting and peaceful atmosphere maintained by rule-enforcing hosts. Some guests reported conflicts over strict policy enforcement, though most found the owners friendly and accommodating.

Peaceful

Quiet campground with a river view. The hosts are very friendly. They enforce the rules so if you are looking for a quiet retreat, this is the spot. If you’re looking for more of a party atmosphere than I would skip this.

Mountain Pass Campground

Beautiful quiet peaceful campground on the river. The road in is a bit tricky, but otherwise was a great trip. Would love to come back in summer and kayak.

What a great 4 days!

We had a wonderful time camping! Its mostly for RVs, but they accommodated us for tent camping. The site is beautiful and well kept, everyone was so very friendly. Kayaking the Powell River was a joy. Read the rules before you go, they are there to keep the campground a family place
