Does not honor cancellation policy as stated

Cancellation policy states you have 7 days prior to arrival to be refunded. Notified Holly on the 11th that we would not be arriving on the 18th due to an accident, and was told I would be refunded the amount minus $25 administration fee. Two days later received a call from Holly stating the campground had to be notified on the 10th to process the refund, therefore canceling my refund. Now numbers are subject to interpretation. Last I checked 18 - 7 =11. Splitting hairs to make a dollar.

I should have been a no show- at least they wouldn’t have the chance to double charge on the campsite. Beware!

Old School Cool

Can't say enough great things about Camp Venice Retreat. This place has a very comfy relaxed vibe to it. You pull in and instantly feel like you are among long time friends. Most of the sites are well sized with some pull through and many back ins. The sites along the river are super nice and should be on everyone's list to try to snag. Nice pool, laundry and bathrooms. Very quiet. Snook Haven restaurant next door is flat out awesome with twice daily entertainment at noon and 5pm most days. 20 minute drive to Venice and another 5 to a great dog beach (Brohard). Just a couple of minor issues are the road going in has some potholes and lots of low hanging tree branches. Drive slow and stay in the middle if you can. The park roads are all dirt and can be dusty at times, but again, not a big issue. Well worth it. Will definitely go back.

Great for Paddling

Easy river access. Paddle the Myakka River in both directions. Plenty of wildlife - and gaters!. No worries, they'll leave you alone if you don't bother them. Easy access to Vince and the great Legacy Bike trail. Beaches and parking are free. Snook Haven is within walking distance (walk through the park to avoid the cars), has good music, river view seating and pretty good food. But, the camp changed hands and the regulars are unhappy with price increases. Office hours are very limited and not much staff around. And bathrooms, while clean, are dated and showers are small, thus the 4-star rating.

Site79 - full sun, bad sun angle so awning didn't help :-(

Best camp ever!

We stayed at the tent sites and they are under a nice canopy of trees with water and electric. The staff is awesome, everyone was super friendly, they had clean facilities, the nature trail was awesome to take our dog on walks down. It's located by snook haven so we got to still hear the music and walk over for drinks. Everything about camp venice was amazing. I will DEFINITELY be coming back

maiden voyage

friendly staff on site. very nice sites on river inlet with perfectly placed utilities. bet clean restrooms and showers within a brief walk from every site. didn’t use pool but looked very clean and well maintained. look forward to visiting again when county wide recreational burn ban is lifted. a friendly baby gator was a frequent visitor to the water by our site which was cool too. walking distance to Snook Haven Restaurant which has great bbq and beer selection with frequent entertainment. i’m a chef in the area so i can attest to the quality. i will be visiting this campground soon for sure.

First trip

This is the first trip out in the new camper. It’s a small drive from where I live. The campsite is clean and lots of trees and a beautiful river to explore. You can launch you kayak or canoe right from your spot.
