Love this close campground

I am a frequent camper at Hilltop. I tent camp so I camp on 16 which isn't as big a the other sites but fine for me. I came spring and fall and never summer. I just went at the end of Sept 2024. Weather was gorgeous 80 hi/ 50 low. This is earlier than I normally camp. I have camped late October and have sleep in my tent in 19° weather. A Mr Buddy heater helps but have a carbon monoxide alarm just in case. Quieter than Lynx Lake campground but a bit further out. Still it's beautiful. I am local so of I forget something I can go home and come back out. Host normally has firewood for sale. They are still working on the water lines so as of the end of Sept there was only the water you bring in yourself. Costco is down the road a ways and they fill propane tanks pretty cheap. Lots to do in the area if you want to go to town and enjoy dinner. Prescott and Prescott Valley have great restaurants.

Awesome visit

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay . The young lady who assisted us, was a true blessing. Two very exhausted new RV campers, really appreciated all of her help. Hubs and I went to sleep with the sounds of extremely happy frogs and woke up with the sounds of a family of geese. All is right in our world today, because of the compassion in a little tiny assistant, with a kind heart..

Peaceful Beautiful forest close to town

When we arrived at our reserved campsite #17, we discovered that it was a 'park beside the road' site.  Our slide-out would have been basically hanging in the road.   Talked to the host (Andy).   He suggested we move to #32.   This is the site for the host of loop C that has not been hired yet.   Amazing upgrade!  He was the only host, so working very hard, full of interesting information.     The recent fires had just been controlled so the campground had just reopened.   Lots of reservations had been canceled and not rescheduled.   The trail to Lynx Lake is beautiful.  Both mornings we had a band of 3 Javalinas come into our site looking for food.

Nice Enough

We stayed one night and enjoyed the stay. Toilets were clean and it was very quiet considering the place was completely full. We took a very nice hike down to and around the lake.

One strange occurrence. Two trucks pulled up to the dumpster and started unloading like 20 bags of garbage. Weird ...

I think it's ever better than Lynx Lake Campground...

Just down the road from Lynx -- this campground is even further away from the traffic and deeper in the trees. The campground is big and really nice for riding your bike around. Still close enough to enjoy the lake too -- there is even connecting trails to go to/from Lynx Lake! Also close the Prescott so another plus...

Campsite is clean and very easy to reserve ahead of time on the supported website which is very easy to use and see all the items open. Extra bonus for this Campground, should you need to, you can cancel your reservation up to 1-2 days out.

Private and clean

Beautiful pine area with a quick hike to the Lynx Lake. Concrete tables and fire pits with grills. We stayed in #14 and it was several steps to the actual camp site. Not recommended for car campers, but away from the road and private.

Great little campground on the 305 trail

Great campground with the Homestead trail running through it. You can hike or bike all day or kayak on Lynx Lake. The sites are varying sizes so read the description and look on the map if you're bringing an RV. Bring your own shade as many spots get full fun. This campground is close to town and a great spot for families.

Hilltop Campground, Prescott, AZ

US Forest Service campground, conveniently located near Prescott and Prescott Valley, AZ. Only Loop A is first come, first serve. Hosts are very busy in their golf carts, keeping their eye on everything and everyone. Restrooms are vault, but super smelly and disgusting (at least the one by our site #4). Sites are tidy, with picnic tables and fire rings. Campground has water on taps, and there is cell service. Nearby Lynx Lake is a very popular day use recreation area. Shopping and restaurants are abundant and all within a few miles.
