Managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Lake Casa Blanca International State Park Campground sits on the shores of a 1,650-acre lake just outside the city of Laredo. The campground operates year-round with sites priced between $18-$21 per night, offering both pull-through and back-in options with full hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections.
The open terrain provides lake views from elevated sites, though campers note the lack of shade trees means relying on air conditioning during hot months. Cole C. observes that "you are surrounded by a bustling city but it feels as if you are deep in the woods." Sites feature covered picnic areas and are well-spaced, with some offering direct lake overlooks for sunset viewing. The rocky shoreline provides easier access than grassy or sandy areas, particularly for families with children.
Water activities dominate the recreation options here. Campers launch boats directly from the park, with wakeboarding, water skiing, and jet skiing common on the lake. Fishing proves productive, especially for catfish caught along the shoreline during midday hours. The park includes a swimming beach area and boat ramps for easy water access. On land, beginner-friendly mountain bike trails wind through the property, while hiking paths showcase seasonal wildflowers, though trail maintenance varies.
The campground can reach capacity during peak periods, so advance reservations through the Texas Parks system prove helpful. Al L. notes "extremely nice staff always willing to do more for you to enjoy your stay" and confirms that "restrooms are clean and maintained." Large RVs navigate the roads without difficulty, though some sites require leveling.
This lakefront location works well for RV campers seeking full hookups with water recreation access, families wanting swimming and boating activities, and anglers targeting catfish in South Texas lake conditions.
