Within Angelina National Forest, Caney Creek operates as a US Forest Service campground that prohibits pets. The facility sits in established forest land west of the small town of Zavalla. Campers must plan accordingly for the no-pets policy, which differs from many other forest campgrounds in the region.
The campground provides access to the broader network of campgrounds around Angelina National Forest, with Boykin Springs Recreation Area located about five miles south for those traveling with pets or seeking additional amenities.
