Bouton Lake Camp

Accessible via a long forest road through dense woods, this primitive dispersed camping area sits at the end of Forest Road 16 in the Angelina National Forest. Campers must continue straight past private property markers and Rockwall Baptist Church to reach the main camping area, which offers ample space for setup on the left side of the road split. The site provides no amenities—no tables, fire rings, or facilities—so visitors need to bring water purification equipment and portable sanitation.

The Neches River flows nearby, offering swimming opportunities during warmer months. Cell service reaches the area, and the remote location typically sees light use. For those wanting developed facilities, Boykin Springs NF Campground provides tables and restrooms just a few miles northeast.

Out of the way peacefulness

Wonderful little campground along the Neches river that is at the end of a long long road through the woods. Don’t turn off the road, Roland Marshall aka 16, but keep going straight because it’s private property and no trespassing until you get to the campground. You will pass Rockwall Baptist Church and that’s the halfway point. The road ends with a spilt, to the right is a picnic table and the path goes to a residence. The main campground is to the left and lots of space to set up. Bring water purification means and toilet means too because this is a Primitive campground. River water is nearby and would make for a nice swim in the summer. No tables or fire rings so be prepared.
