Bruton Branch Recreation Area Campground, near Savannah, Tennessee, is a fantastic spot for those who love camping right by the water. This campground is part of Pickwick Landing State Park, which means you’re surrounded by beautiful scenery and plenty of outdoor activities.

The sites here are mostly on the water, making it a prime location for fishing and water sports. This primitive campground and picnic area is located on the north side of Pickwick Lake just off Highway 128. The campground has 33 sites, most of which are located on the lake. There are no electrical or water sources at individual campsites, however there is a bath house with showers. Non-treated well water is available as a water source at the bath house. A playground and boat ramp are available. This campground is open year-round.

The Best Camping Near Savannah, Tennessee

I stayed here on a Thursday evening and I literally had the whole place to myself. It was nice. I couldn't get a for going and my tent poles were broken but I still had a great evening with the river just yards away. There are flush toilets and showers, but no potable water, so plan ahead! 

Nice time alone 

Beautiful second campground, part of Pickwick Landing State Park. Over half the campsites are on the water. Older campground, sites are a little uneven. Boat launch on site. 4 unisex bathrooms, could use some updating.  Primitive camping, no electric or water. A few sites are big enough for a small RV.

Lakeside camping

We love Bruton Branch. Specifically sites 28&amp;29 they are the last of the site but it allows you to have your own little slice of fishing heaven as you are separated from the majority of other people. Right on the water and a breathtaking view to wake up to. 

Great for fishing access 

We spent a weekend here at the beginning of may. The weather was perfect. There are a good number of trees for shade. Our campsite was right on the water which was good for views but there wasn’t a lot of grass for our tent. The sites have fire rings but no grates to cook on. It was pretty crowded but that is to be expected on a weekend. I don’t think the bathrooms are cleaned over the weekend and got pretty dirty by the end of it. Visited Shiloh National Battle field and got ice cream near the campsite from “The Outpost.” Overall a good experience!

Awesome Sunsets

Site/Surface: Site 19 was an excellent site with great views, site 18 was smaller and not as good. Sites were a mix of grass/dirt/rocks

Shade: Plenty of shade on both sites. 

Firerings: Both sites had firerings, but no grill grates.

Onsite Grill: None

Bathhouse: Bathhouse was close. It was cleaned early in the day and become very gross by the end of the day.

Playground: Playground was in good shape and close by. 

Campstore: There was a campstore, but it was closed when we went in June. There was no camphost either.

Local Activites: The main park is about 15 minutes away and has a great swimming beach and tons of other activities.

Overall: Decent ranger prescense during the day, but nothing at night. Several RVs ran their generators, against the campground rules, which took away from the peacefullness. Camground was fairly loud at night and there were some interesting characters. This spot has amazing views and tons of potential. If they would have a bit more enforcment of no generators, have a camphost it would be a must stay every year.

Great Views!

This place is so cute. You're site is on the water so plenty of water sports. They have a bath house, no hookups, and you can hammock camp! A bit crowded but still an awesome time. Super quiet.
