A two-track forest road leads into Falls Creek, a free dispersed site within Sumter National Forest outside Long Creek, South Carolina. The site fits two vehicles and several tents on fairly level ground. It sits roughly 0.6 miles from the Chatooga River by foot, and a moderate-clearance vehicle is recommended for the drive in. Cell service is available, and campfires and pets are both permitted. Campers looking for campsites near Long Creek will find few options as low-key as this one.
Description
Dispersed camping is permitted provided the selected site is 50 feet from streams and trails and .25 miles from the road. Venomous snakes live in these habitats. Practice water safety near the river and be aware of other natural hazards. Also, winter can bring very cold temperatures and hazardous trail conditions.
