Great campground near Moss Lake, Shelby and Gastonia/Charlotte.
My family and I have stayed here several times over the years and have always found this to be a hidden gem. Nice campground with great staff.
Fantastic owners, great rates, lakefront property, private boat dock, next door to a boat ramp, lake vibe restaurant with live bands, (seasonal), mere minutes from nearly anything one could want, delivery apps and pizza shops deliver here (drivers get a bit lost in the campground though).
Stayed here for a bit in my 36’ class A. The campground has been around for a while, (but so have we)… ;)
My family and I had a fantastic time. Tiger Cove is a lock for us when we travel through next.
Decent sized spots. Very picturesque. Great sunrise and sunsets. Overall - great park 😁
Very nice to fall asleep to the sound of the crashing ocean waves and to wake up to the same. The sites were actually a bit larger than they sound online. Plenty of room for a couple vehicles and tents as well as a canopy. I camped “off season” in a converted 4x4 and it was perfect. Others in tents had a bit more of an adventure. Bear in mind that we come here for nature and Mother Nature can make herself known on the oceanfront!! Winds can be high and tents are a challenge to secure in loose sand. Also CRITICAL to be educated about beach weather and TIDES!!!! Super high tides were present during my visit. A high Queen tide came near the camp spots at night while a super high king tide COMPLETELY COVERED the camp sites in the morning!! I had an absolutely wonderful time and generated some lifelong memories, (watched the rising king tide from safety)! Highly recommended camp spot! Highly recommend one becomes educated about beach weather and TIDES! :)
Sites are spread out, nice river nearby. Entrance road can get a bit slick after heavy rains…
Decent site(s) near chatooga river. Moderate clearance vehicle required, (or hike it).
Large mountain top camp site. Moderate clearance vehicle is required to access, (or hike it) ;)
The area is very nice, (a little built up at the south end of W Wildcat rd.)
Fyi - E. Wildcat rd. Is residential, (you want W. Wildcat rd.)
Single spot off of the road but very nice! Pretty much have the woods and mountains to yourself.
Hike in style camp with the convenience of having your vehicle. A 4wd with moderate clearance is helpful. Wonderful stream running through the campsite.
Access is rough, (moderate clearance vehicles required). Also, as courtesy - cruise the bridge and see if people are down there first, (both sides).
Sweet backcountry spot! Nice gurgling stream and hiking trails.
