About 40 minutes outside Reedsport, Loon Lake Campground sits directly across the road from its namesake lake on Bureau of Land Management property. Campers must cross the roadway to reach the day-use area and lake access, though the sites themselves offer privacy through natural foliage screening. The campground operates seasonally from late May through September with both electric and water hookups available for RVs.

Sites accommodate both RVs and tents, with vault toilets and fire rings standard throughout. The lake features a shallow swimming area with a sandy beach where children can build sandcastles, plus docks that serve as gathering spots for families. Boating access allows for fishing, paddleboarding, and personal watercraft use. Trees provide shade coverage across the camping area, though cell phone service remains spotty according to multiple visitors.

The campground includes a small amphitheater and maintains clean facilities with on-site hosts during peak season. Kelly N. notes visitors should "make sure to bring your own water." Nearby Loon Lake Lodge and RV Resort offers restaurant dining and boat rentals for day trips.

Reservations fill quickly during summer months, making advance booking essential. The combination of lake access, family-friendly swimming, and RV amenities makes this campground well-suited for families and water recreation enthusiasts.

Many visitors appreciated the excellent lake access with family-friendly swimming areas and helpful staff. Some concerns about bathroom conditions and crowded atmosphere, but overall positive experience for water activities.

Recreation sites around Loon lake - across the street

Loon Lake Campground sits on Loon Lake about 40 minutes outside Reedsport Oregon. This campsite is somewhat private with enclosures from plants/foliage and well kept, but also sits right on the roadside across from Loon Lake and you will need to cross the road to get to the day-use and lake acess area. There is enough room for RVs trailers and/or tents and per usual vault toilets and campfire rings. Make sure to bring your own water.

While staying at this site, if you like to day-trip and see the area I advise that you go up the road and eat a meal at the Loon Lake Resort restaurant and possibly rent a boat or go fishing off of their pier. Reedsport is a fun, little town and is the nearest grocery store for forgotten items.

LOVE this place!

What a great campground! There is a small amphitheater and a wonderful beahj area. Very clean and the host was super nice. Would love to return but they are pretty much booked through the season. One of the prettiest I have been to!

Prettyv

Nice nice beach, no cell service which makes it easy to be with kids, terrible playground and marginal bathrooms. This is a great place to swim, paddle, fish with kids -but it’s typical busy packed in Oregon Camping

Family fun!

We love this campground. It has a shallow swim area for kids with a nice sandy beach to build sandcastles. There’s a lake to paddleboard or ride waverunners. Lots of trees for shade. The phone service is spotty.

Loon Lake, Oregon

I loved this camp ground! Having a swimming area for children is a total plus. The docks are so fun to hang out around with friends and family and being able to bring a boat on the lake made the trip all that more fun. Great staff and very friendly. Definitely recommend!
