Description

National Forest

Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest

The Farewell Bend Snow Play Area is a picturesque setting to enjoy the fun of winter! Located in the midst of old-growth forest and near Union Creek, it is adjacent to the upper Rogue River and on the way to Crater Lake National Park.

These two sledding hills are a popular winter destination for families and friends, especially after a fresh snow! There is a warming shelter, a fireplace with firewood, and picnic tables, as well as amenities like vault toilets. (Firewood is stocked by the Forest Service and volunteers, but may not always be available.)

Free from May to October

As snow parks go, this isn't the best one we've seen, but it's really really easy access for big rigs if you just need to pull over to sleep. The parking area is literally just a big flat pullout off the road, with no barriers of any kind between you and the road.

But the camp area is nice if you're going to use a tent. There are 2 pit toilets, there's a little warming cabin and a big fireplace, and 2 small trash bins.

Permits are required between Nov 1 to April 30, and fees are $25/year, $9 for 3 days, or $4 for one day. No cell service in this area.
