Description
Ponderosa-forested Deschutes National Forest terrain flanks US 97 south of Sunriver, with Lava River Cave and the volcanic landscape of Lava Lands just a few miles up the road. A short spur off NF 9720 opens into several primitive clearings — at least one with a fire ring — that have handled rigs up to 40-plus feet with no issues. The access road is rough and dusty, so high-clearance is advisable and 4WD may be needed on the uphill approach.
