Aneroid Lake sits deep in the Eagle Cap Wilderness within campsites near Wallowa National Forest, reached only by trail on a hike-in approach from the Joseph area. Dispersed camping is free and available on the north shore. The south side is private property belonging to Camp Halton, so campers should stay north of the lake. The lake holds both rainbow trout, stocked periodically, and a resident population of brook trout, making it a draw for anglers. Water is cold year-round, though worth a swim on a hot summer day. Pets are welcome, and campfires are permitted.
