Wallowa-Whitman NF Dispersed off NF-39

Wallowa-Whitman National Forest rolls into deep canyon country along this stretch of NF-39, where flat dispersed pullouts sit just off the highway past a cattle grate — spread out enough to accommodate large rigs, each with a fire ring. A creek runs just across the road, and a trailhead is within easy reach. Light highway noise filters through, but traffic is sparse.
