No towels in the restrooms, flies were everywhere.

We read that there were big trees for shade, and the pool was open 24 hours/day. It sounded lovely. When we arrived we were given a site where you could see the trees, but none nearby for shade. The neighbors had "acquired" the picnic table for our site. They had a tire and other junk stacked…

Friendly people

We actually booked online a couple weeks in advance just in case and had no issue with the check in, we fished, swam and had a great time.... there weren’t a ton of people there and everyone was friendly The campground was close enough to the water to pull the kayaks across to

Boat ramp stay

Campground was closed. Beautiful drives and hikes, we had to spend the night and explore more. Boat ramp is public, and offers a nice walk up call in the morning (by fishermen).

My go to

I absolutely love camping and hiking here. I prefer the semi-primitive sites as it’s a bit more private. The view is lovely and there’s a lot of trails to choose from. If backpacking is more your speed get a wilderness permit and check out some of the more remote parts of the park. If you’re…

Doris Campground

A truely interesting park. The Wichita mountains give you a sense that you can almost feel the native Indiaans. Mysterious & spiritual aura that surrounds you. We were in an electric loop with maybe a dozen other sites. Being from themidwest, not use to the barron granite mountains &…

  • The Holy City is worth the visit.

Last minute Lifesaver

We happened to be driving to texas the same time as the polar vortex. Needing a spot with electricity last minute to warm up for the night, this KOA was available and everyone was so helpful. Our pipes in the van froze on the road and people talked us through what to do and even gave us…

Nice Quiet Spot with Mt. Scott View

We needed a quick spot for an impromptu camping trek so hike the Wichita mountains. The Wichita Reserve seemed to be closed to tent campers due to Covid, so we opted for this spot in a pinch. Setup directly next to the lake and had a great view of Mt. Scott at sunset! Only complaint was proximity…

Dry Camping, Good Wildlife

Super simple to make a last minute reservation and check in quickly. No hookups at my $24 site. Pricey for dry camping IMO but felt safe, which is a priority for me. Fire rings and bathrooms/dumpsters. Saw some HUGE longhorns and bison on the open range and that was great. No service whatsoever…

Absolutely wonderful camping and hiking!! Lots of camping spots - and most were well distanced for plenty of privacy. Due to COVID all spots require pre-registration online and only self contained vehicles are permitted (all bathrooms are closed). There is no service in the park, but about 2 bars…

Very Nice Country Setting

Stayed a night on my way home to the Dallas area. It’s a little bit north of Wichita Falls and Hwy 287 but well worth the effort to get there.

Nice, basic RV park

We parked our RV here for 2 nights to go play at Kiowa casino 5 minutes away. Quiet, basic sites. Not very big. No fire rings but a stationary grill. No walking trails. We parked with a 30 amp. Nice people.

Spectacular place to visit

Doris campgrounds are only open for RV campers due to covid so I couldn’t stay. Mount Scott had some pretty awesome views and I hiked the trail across the road from it by the bathrooms. There is a gate and a path beside it made from vehicle wheels. You can hike pretty far. There are several spots…

Awesome area

A great view and plenty of room for outdoor games. The bathrooms are located by the entrance gate. We didn’t check them out because we were so far from them. Several sites have water and power at the pavilion, but many you will need about 60’ of water hose. All rv sites are 50 amp, so bring an…
