    Delaware State Park Campground

Large, well-laid-out park on the Delaware Reservoir

General: 214-site campground, all with electric hookups. Campsites are in four loops.

Site Quality: All sites are paved and appeared to be level. A fire ring, picnic table, and electric hookup complete each site. Generous foliage provides separation between most sites.

Bath/Shower: Fully contained all-gender units in the third loop. Each one has a bench and a baby changing station. Soap and air dryers. A more traditional bath/shower house was in the fourth loop (don’t know about the first two loops).

Activities/Amenities: Several hiking trails (but it was raining when we were there so didn’t explore), a small putt-putt course (free use of putters and balls), disc golf, shuffleboard, basketball, tennis, and a small camper store. Each loop has a playground and other recreational options (i.e. volleyball net). The marina offers water toy rentals.

My five-star rating is based on the possibility of what our stay might have been if the weather had cooperated! Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy during our stay in June. We will definitely be back again to take advantage of the marina rentals.

    Ashland Fairgrounds

Great place to stop over night

Ashland fairgrounds has $20 tent sites or $35 full hookups. You may need an extension cord. All back in sites. Bathrooms are open and close by. No showers. Very clean and quiet. There were 4 others staying here. All were nice. If you arrive after hours grab an envelope and drop payment in an envelope. If you stay in the grass parking lot while no other events are going on you can stay for free.

    Great park

Spent the weekend would've spent longer if not for work. Some sites were bigger than others but all had plenty of space and alot of tree shade. They put in a put put course recently, had disk golf. We were in section c it had upgraded single person shower house and I was told there in the process of upgrading all of them to that style. huge beach area and each section has its own playground for the kids. Cell phone service I had verizon which was 1 bar but the wife has att and her phone worked no problems.

    Delaware State Park Campground

Well maintained, quiet and relaxing campground.

My wife and I have begun our full-time RV living. We stayed at this state park during the transition from selling our house. We did not have time to enjoy everything this park has to offer. However, the staff was friendly, the campsites were well maintained and it was quiet.

    Peacful Weekend

We had a great time at Pleasant Hill. We stayed there because we were planning a visit to the Prairie Peddler. It was almost completely empty so it was a nice weekend but the sites if everything was full is very cramped. Additionally not a ton to do besides a small park but you can see in the summer time how there would be so much to do!

    Bare bones

Difficult to get potable water. Only electric on the sites. Some sites don't have electric hookup. Dump station is in a completely different section of the state park. We arrived around 8 pm and check-in station was already closed. Luckily they have a sign with name and site number. Not much to do other than trails.

    Who was Louis Bromfield

This campground is all non electric. We did run our generator during that day but kept it off at night so we didn’t disturb other campers. Only 15 sites and most are very sloped but we had site 3 and it was okay.

Lots of hiking trails and a few sites boasting the filming locations for scenes from the movie Shawshank Redemption.

We also did a house tour and learned about who Louis Bromfield was and why he was so important to the area.

    Pleasant Hill Lake Park Campground

    Pleasant Hill is Pleasant!

I recently stayed 2 nights on site 304 which was electric only by choice and when we return we will opt for full hook up since those sites look brand new.

    Positives:

    • Lots are spacious
    • Lots of activities: WhoaZone, boating, fishing, horseback riding, near Mohican Adventures for rafting, hiking
    • Quiet and with friendly staff and seasonal campers
    • Large beautiful cabins to accommodate any type of getaways

    Less desirable items:

    • Low energy because of the amount of seasonal campers at this campground. They stay to themselves and do not get too social. The transient sites were much less occupied so socializing isn't much of an option.
    • Really large property so having a golf cart is almost a necessity

    Where’s the crowd?

Delaware State Park is a gem in the Ohio state park system. What is amazing to us is how few people seem to know it exists! this state park is only 15 to 20 minutes away from Alum Creek State Park and yet there are virtually no crowds at all. The park is very large and the campground is adjacent to Delaware Lake, a reservoir a few miles north of the small town of Delaware. The lake offers boating with unlimited horsepower but it seems most of the boats on the lake were either fishing boats or kayaks. There is a very nice swimming beach, a beautiful marina with a full service store and two very good disc golf courses. There is also a youth fishing pond for the youngsters and plenty of hiking trails throughout the park. The campsites all have asphalt pads and are quite spacious; all are electric only as far as we could tell. The biggest con is also this park’s greatest pro and that is the campground requires a long drive to get to it - but that makes it feel more “out there.” The town of Delaware has a very vibrant downtown with lots of quality local restaurants and bars plus grocery stores and fuel to keep you well stocked for your camping trip. Highly recommended!

    Empty campground

This large campground was practically empty. The showers and bathrooms were dated, but fully functional. We enjoyed the trails. Critters were active at night.

    Typical State Park Campground

As usual, sites vary in size and flatness. I like the circle with the rentable yurts. Nice woods around, lake is walking distance, some trails. Bathrooms have flush toilets, and showers.

    Great campground

We love this campground. Sites are large and spacious. There are a lot of trees that provide nice shady areas especially in the summer. Some of the sites flood really badly when it rains though. It was a rainy weekend for us our site didn’t flood to badly. We still had a great time though.

    Nice quiet place

Tried it for the first time. It was quiet and relaxing. The camp host was nice and friendly. Kids loved having the playground so close to the camper. Will be back soon.

    Chilly Evening in Quiet Park

We stayed for 1 evening (a trip cut short due to rain) at this campground and I have to say we were impressed!

While very obviously a site made for RVs, our tent camping experience was excellent. The spaces are very roomy and so we never felt encroached on by RVs. We typically don't get electric spots because of this, but the space in between each area made staying at an electric site a non-issue. Bathrooms are centrally located for each "spoke" and was big and clean. Site 212's fire pit is not in a great spot, but we didn't use the fire due to our short trip so it was not an issue. Very few spots for hammock camping, but if you want some open area, this is a great campground.

A nice State Park and I like the layout

This is another of our favorite Ohio State Parks.  The campground is setup in a nice layout with each of the separate sections having a spoke and wheel layout with a bathhouse in the middle.  Sites are roomy and we like the wooded feel.

The dog part was quite muddy and actually closed while we were there and we were a bit disappointed by that but there was plenty of space to walk the pups.

Located near the town of Delaware, you aren’t too far off the beaten path and we even had decent service with Verizon.

I also noticed that the6 had a nice storm shelter on the property that was well marked and easy to get to from any of the campground areas.

    Great campground

This is the second trip already this season to Delaware and besides the weather we were not disappointed. Delaware has been our favorite campground since we found it. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The grounds are very clean and tidy. The rangers drive through a few times a day to patrol the grounds. The hosts drove around in their carts throughout the day as well. The last day we were there one of the hosts actually drove up and asked us if we needed dry firewood because we had a downpour the night before into the morning. We always have a great time here.

    Great Park

This was an awesome place to take our 5th wheel. We have a 42.5 ft fifth wheel and driving through the site, getting water/dump station was real easy. The cul de sac style sites are awesome for kids (mine are all under 4). They were able to go around in circles on their bikes all day with minimal traffic. And everything was well maintained.

    Delaware State Park Campground

    Great park

We just stayed in Delaware as our first trip of the camping season and had a great time. We had a egg hunt for Easter through the woods that attach to many of the sites and the kids had a ball. The ranger patrols pretty frequently. However since it’s still been cold they currently do not have the water on except for one area for portable water up front by the dump station.

    Sounds of Spring

This is about our 5th or 6th trip here. It’s close to home, but more importantly it has great trails and wooded sites. Winter camping has several sections of the park closed, only 1 shower house open and no camp hosts or camp store. In the summer this park has a marina , beach , several playgrounds , disk golf and a dog park.
The only negative this about this park is it is prone to flooding and the sites can get really muddy.

    Hidden Gem!!

Wow!! We happened to stumble across this campground while making an ohio map of campgrounds to visit. For some reason this place is not known to most. Every time I ask people if they've been here, no one ever knows about it. Even my parents didn't know it existed, and we did a lot of camping growing up. Delete state park is in the middle of corn county and has very little around it. Just the drive from the entrance of the park to the sites takes ten minutes. But it is a beautiful drive. The park is huge, gas multiple playgrounds, beach, tornado shelter, etc. The campgrounds have brand new roads and pads that are very level, very long and extremely wide! The absolute best site pads I've seen. The sites are large mostly spread out. Many of the bathrooms are updated to the private seperate bath/shower stalls that were amazing to use. We booked at the last minute and honestly didn't have the highest hopes for the place based on some older reviews. We really lucked out with the ONLY site that was open. Amazing site 197!!! This site was probably the best site in the entire campground. It was huge, backed up to the woods, lake, hiking trails and a huge picnic area in the woods. The fire pit, which was at least 20 feet behind our camper, had a circle of trees around it where we hung our two hammocks and had room for more. All of the fire pits were the newest ODNR model with the swing away and adjustable cooking grate. Sounds like a small feature, but it is actually amazing compared to all the others. This site seemed like it was twice as big as the others. When we plan our trips for the summer, we usually prefer going somewhere new each time. We have a limited number of places we put on our return trip. This one has made it to number 2, behind Kelly's Island and Maumee Bay. We would highly recommend!!!!

    Not for me

This is an amazing place. I felt like I had arrived at a cult gathering. Lots of kids on bikes and families having fun. Sounded like live music after dark accompanied by whooping and hollering and people having fun. I hiked with my dogs before leaving and got lost for awhile. The place is big. Did not go into shower or any Other facility. This is a certain kind of place but not for me. Sites on top of each other.

Best campground we’ve been to all year

This summer my family has went to many campgrounds and by far Delaware has been our favorite. The site we were on was set back in the woods. My daughter had tons of fun exploring the woods connected to our site. We did not swim due to it being in the 60s and rainy during most of our stay but we did go look at the beach it was very clean and appears well cared for. The bathroom on our loop was older def in need of some updating but it wasn’t a big deal.

This is our 4th trip here

We have never had a bad site at Delaware, rowdy neighbors on occasion but the park itself and the site are great. Lots of hiking trails, stocked fishing pond for kids, disc golf, dog park and the lake itself.

    Site 187 this trip.

    Very nice park

We called last minute and it was on a 1st come, we hit the road quick. Great Lake close to rafting on Mohican river. The lady across from site 188 was a bit crazy however manageable! She called us weekenders lol she was a permanent. Park is doing a ton of remolding looks to be mostly seasonal sites...we didn’t care.

    Love!!

this is probably our favourite state park we have been to thus far. we went camping early October in tents. it was cold but it was so much fun. The best thing about this campground is the fact that all the sites have privacy. There are nice trails to walk and the bathrooms are the best I’ve seen at a campground.
