Surf City Family Campground

Surf City Family Campground sits on North Topsail Beach in North Carolina, positioned close enough to the Atlantic that campers report hearing the waves even with RV air conditioners running. The sites are tightly spaced with no shade trees, though a consistent ocean breeze moves through the property. The dunes block any view of the water from camp, but the walk to the shoreline is roughly 300 feet over the dune line.

The campground provides full hookups including electric, water, and sewer, with a maximum RV length of 50 feet. One detail worth knowing: the dump station is located across the street at a sister property, and there is no water available for rinsing at that station. Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. The owners have a hands-on approach; one reviewer noted the owner will help park an RV using a tractor. Restrooms are functional but basic, with partition walls that only reach shoulder height.

Crowding is a real factor here. Sites sit close together, which is worth factoring in for campers who prefer more separation. That said, the beach proximity draws return visitors, and janet P. notes you "could still hear the waves even with RVs running air conditioners." Nearby alternatives include Topsail Sound RV Park and Harbor Point RV Community for those who want more campgrounds around Holly Ridge to compare. Reservations are available and recommended, particularly for summer weekends.

Many campers appreciated the prime beachfront location with friendly, helpful owners creating a family-friendly atmosphere. Some noted concerns about close site spacing and mixed facility conditions, but the peaceful setting and beach access make it worthwhile.

Located right on the beach

The spots are very close together. There is no shade, but a constant beach breeze.

You can not see ocean from the campground due to the dunes, but it is about 300 feet to the water.

The owners are very nice. He will even help park your rv with his tractor.

Same price for full hookups verses no sewer. You will have to go across the street to their other campground to dump and there is no water for rinsing, only a sewer drain.

The public bathroom stalls only go as high as shoulder level.

Right on the Beach!

A gem of a place! Call to reserve a spot. The staff is super helpful and friendly. We loved being right by the beach. There are spots for RVs and tents. You could still hear the waves even with RVs running air conditioners.

Excellent family campround

This campground is ON THE BEACH! Just a short walk over the dune and you will be at the water. Camped many times with a pop-up. I use the water and electric hook-ups. The restrooms/showers are decent. The people running the place are great!

Nice, quiet campground

Spent 2 nights at Surf City campground in July. Great little campground, not crowded and right on the beach. The Owner was friendly and helpful with directions and dining suggestions. Showers were a little worn, but even teenage granddaughter didn’t mind. Water and electricity only.
