Watching the rapids all night, enjoying the cool waters during the day

Stayed here for a couple days to visit some friends who moved to Asheville. BE ALERT TO TURN WIDE WHEN TURNING INTO THIS CAMPGROUND. VERY NARROW BRIDGE FROM THE MAIN ROAD MAKING IT ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO TURN INTO THE OTHER LANE FOR LONGER RIGS. Anyway, once you get set up at you're waterfront site you cant help but be in awe of the rapids. We hungout all night enjoying it's ambiance and the moonlight shines. Following day we brought down a speaker and just hungout and stayed cool in the shallower rapids. Most looked at us like we were crazy with the cold water. But we're used to the cold florida springs and it totally made the trip. The surrounding area is beautiful, but we were very content with the natural beauty at this park. This is one of the parks on our vacation that we wish we stayed one more day at.

Great Family Campground

Great campground, even better location. Listen to the river while you relax and kick back or explore the area!

Good location for small RVs

This campground is close to Lake Lure public beach and Chimney Rock. Great location but most spots are taken by permanent residents. Only couple of spots left with access to the river. Everything is extremely tight and I don’t recommend it for any pull behind trailer longer than 21 ft. Bathrooms are in poor condition if you have to use them. Access in and out of campsites is very difficult due to big rocks everywhere. The bridge across the river for entering the campground is very narrow and you can get onto it only by coming from the opposite lane. GPS gives directions to another campground nearby, so pay attention to the signs. This place is great for tents and small pop-up campers.

Nice Campground

We stayed here over the summer and really enjoyed it. It is prime location to downtown chimney rock and lake lure beach/water park. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We had a site that was covered and that was nice to have. We were right on the river so the sound was serene and sight was beautiful. Definitely plan on returning again for another trip.

river sites

sites were very tight and on top of each other. electric at all of them, nice that they were on the river, but lights across the river were bright at night, only a few trees if your going to hang a hammock. bathrooms were ok.

Camping beside a river!

I loved camping at the edge of the river but know that it is loud and is a constant sound! The sites are right along the river and are a bit tight. Each site has a firepit, table, electric and water.

There are a lot of "permanent" resident RV's here but didn't see many people.

Proximity to Chimney Rock, Bat Cave and Lake Lure was great! Be sure to check out the Garden Bridge!!

Fishing was fun too!
