Fishing enthusiasts will find dual water access at this Fair Haven Beach State Park campground, with Lake Ontario on one side of the road and Sterling Pond on the other. The unique location allows campers to fish the pond before heading to the expansive Lake Ontario beach. Sites along the bluff offer open views toward the lake, particularly striking at sunset when the sky reflects across the water.
The campground provides full hookups for RVs along with standard amenities including restrooms, showers, and a dump station. Swan populations frequent Sterling Pond despite being non-native to the area. While some sites sit close together, the bluff-top locations provide more space and better sightlines. Other camping areas within the park include Drumlin B Camping Area — Fair Haven Beach State Park and Bluff Camping Area — Fair Haven Beach State Park. Reservations are recommended, especially for family gatherings and reunion groups.
Description
Three separate campgrounds and a 30 unit cabin colony each contain a centralized restroom building with showers. Campgrounds consist of 46 electric sites and 138 non-electric sites. A ball field, hiking trail, camp store, concession, 5 picnic areas, 2 family picnic tent rentals and 2 shelters (one heated) are also offered as an attraction to patrons. With fantastic scenic views and an 18 hole golf course this makes for a unique and accommodating destination. Fair Haven Beach State Park has one of the finest public lakefronts in upstate New York, with high bluffs above sandy beaches and hilly woodlands. The park features 1,500 feet of beautiful sandy beach including 600 feet of guarded swimming area. Inland, Sterling Pond and Creek are centrally located amongst the geological transition between wood and water. Campsites and cabins are nestled within the gently rolling woodlands. Fishing and boating opportunities are plentiful in Lake Ontario and the adjoining Little Sodus Bay.
