    Firelight Camps

    Such a unique Glamping experience!

Stayed 2 nights for my birthday and loved it. One of the first places to open after COVID shutdown. Normally they have a large gathering area for cooking, games and a bar tent. Even with the restrictions we had a great visit and felt safely distanced from other campers and staff. Great hiking trails because it is attached to Buttermilk Falls State Park. Also close to Cornell University which is a beautiful campus.

I loved sleeping in the huge canvas tent and listening to the rain safe and warm under many quilts. The breakfast baskets the made for us each day were so nice to wake up to. And the bar and fire pits were maintained for you by the staff -  such luxury. I loved it.

    Pinecreek Campground

Beautiful Park, beautiful area could be so much more with a little effort!

Pinecreek is a beautiful park in a great area 10 minutes from downtown Ithica New York and Lake Cayuga. The area has everything you could possibly want or need. Fabulous State Parks with spectacular waterfalls, a farmers market right on the lake front, Cornell University and so much more. That being said it may be the reason the campground doesn't offer any planned activities. They do have a swimming pool and what appears to be a large clubhouse/meeting area that is not or was not used while we were there, nor were any activities publicized. They do have a small arcade but it did not stay open past 8 pm and did not appear to be air-conditioned.

Our campsite was a full hookup with a large grassy area for setting up our outside chairs and picnic table. Although we enjoyed our stay we felt it was a bit overpriced for not having much to offer. They also have a very long list of rules & while they do allow pets there is a list of breed restrictions you need to be aware of before booking a reservation. They also charge for electricity on any stays one week or longer which we had not encountered previously at campgrounds where we have stayed.

Overall we enjoyed our stay but not sure we would stay again.

    Bowman Lake State Park Campground

    Woodsy, pet friendly, and private

We booked this as our first real camping trip with our new trailer, can’t recommend that for everyone lol, but we had a lovely time.

We had a back in site with a fire pit, picnic table, and no hook ups. It was gravel and not super level, but we made it work. There was a potable water spigot a few sites over and a bathroom with showers a short walk away.

This is a great spot for tent camping, so if that’s your vibe this place is perfect. We had a lot of tree cover so we didn’t even need our air conditioning on during an 85 degree day. There are a lot of mosquitoes, but with some bug spray and a couple thermacell mosquito repellents, we were comfortable the whole time. I loved cooking over the fire, the pit had a cinder block wall around it to set a grate on and block the wind. We had a lot of privacy because the campgrounds next to us were empty, but even if there were people nearby there was about 20-30 ft between our site and the next.

The lake is small but calm and great for kayaking. There is a little “beach” there for swimming, but know that it’s a soft lake bottom further out.

We really liked it here and booked another visit in August.

    Delta Lake State Park Campground

Perfect place to unwind after Boilermaker

We stayed here a while ago while running the Boilermaker, at the time we had outfitted our twelve passenger van with a bed and used the electric hookups for our fans and chargers. We had a fire pit and picnic table as well. It was a beautiful spot on the Delta Reservoir, had plenty of trees and access to the reservoir for wading and swimming. The bath houses were clean and centrally located. Nice little no-frills campsite.

    Delta Lake State Park Campground

    Delta Lake State Park

Delta Lake State Park sits at the foothills of the Adirondack Park, just outside Rome, New York. Pretty and well-kempt, Delta Lake is a nice option for those looking to stay close to home and within proximity to civilization. You can enjoy the great outdoors, while only being a few miles away from a restaurant or grocery store.

The campground isn‘t the best I’ve experienced, a bit on the crowded side-similar to a woodsy suburb- but this could have been distinctive to Loop A where I stayed. I stayed in site 35 and was intermixed with all the campers and RV’s, so it got a bit noisy. Not that restful, secluded experience I typically go for, but I should have planned further in advance.

However, what the park lacked in terms of its campground, it totally made up for in its beach, swimming and picnic areas! This place was awesome for hosting a birthday party for my niece and relaxing at the beach/ day facilities. They have plenty of picnic tables, charcoal grills, a huge beach and locker rooms. This is really a great place to spend a day with your family!

    Sned Acres Campground

Nice place to stay while exploring the Finger Lakes

We happened upon Sned Acres when Curveball was cancelled and had to make lemons out of lemonade. We were welcomed w a fresh loaf of bread and the owners made sure our group was able to stay together on neighboring sites. Out site was nicely shaded and across from the small lake. The showers were hot and the facilities were clean. It is a family campground w quiet hours after 9pm, so consider that when booking.

    Selkirk Shores State Park Campground

    NYS's best kept secret

Selkirk is quiet and peaceful. Electricity is available on many sites. The beach is good for children and they have a great recreation program for the kids. While we were there they had a reptile exhibit with huge snakes and crocodiles, another day they had tie dyeing t-shirts, other days they had bingo(candy was the prize), exercises, and crafty things to make. Firewood is available on site, with delivery if you buy 1/4 cord and up.

    Delta Lake State Park Campground

    Great spot for the night!!

We had a waterfront hookup ! So pretty especially in the morning with the sunrise. The road to get in was for the most part well taken care of. It was pretty quiet especially after quiet hours everyone was very respectful. It got really windy at night which was nice to keep the bugs away. Friendly neighbors as well. There’s a few steps down to a gravel beach and an expansive view of the delta lake. There were bathrooms in the middle of our loop which was great and easy to walk to and it was very clean. There is a water full station when you enter but there are also a couple water spigots in our loop.

    Delta Lake State Park Campground

    Nice but BUSY

This was our first time here, and we were looking forward to a relaxing visit. The sites were very large and well spaced out, with a beautiful fire ring. The bathrooms were clean. This campground got a 3/5 mainly because quiet hours are not enforced. Unfortunately, people were up blaring radios until approximately 3 am, being roudy. At approximately 2 am, someone decided it would be a good idea to do burnouts with their diesel truck, and went around the camp loop twice, doing just that. Vehicles were driving by the campsites all night long. This is naturally not entirely the campgrounds fault, but it was unfortunate to be misled by the campground rules. On a positive note, the campground is dog friendly, in certain areas, with proof of rabies vaccination, of course. Overall, I would say that this campground is geared more toward the RV and trailer crowd.

Guide to Delphi Falls

Glamping near Delphi Falls, New York provides access to the scenic glacial landscape of Central New York, where glacial lakes formed during the last ice age offer unique camping and recreational opportunities. The area sits at elevations between 400-1,200 feet, creating varied terrain that transitions between forested hills and open valleys. Summer temperatures typically range from 55-85°F with higher humidity levels making water activities particularly appealing.

What to do

Kayaking and boating on glacial lakes: At Green Lakes State Park Campground, boaters can explore uniquely colored waters with boat rentals right at the park. "You can rent a kayak and enjoy the beautiful lake. There are miles of trails to explore," notes Cindy H. from her visit to Green Lakes.

Swimming in clear waters: Delta Lake State Park Campground offers swimming in a developed beach area with lifeguards and modern facilities. According to Sierra K., "Was here with a camper on a lake accessing site. Sites are fairly big but not completely separated. Having the kayaks were great, there's so much to explore, and town is right down the road."

Hiking around lake loops: Bowman Lake State Park Campground features wooded trails around its smaller, more secluded lake. Gerald L. mentions, "We went up for a weekend trip. Tent camping. Site was sufficiently private and tucked away, but water/bathrooms/showers were close enough. Very clean facilities! Really enjoyed the kayaking and beach area."

Fishing in stocked waters: The fishing at Delta Lake State Park Campground offers good opportunities in a reservoir environment. Brian O. explains that "The lake is a flooded area foaming a reservoir stocked with game fish as bass, perch, and pike."

What campers like

Private, shaded campsites: Bowman Lake State Park provides secluded tent sites set in dense forest. Katarina M. shared, "This campsite was beautiful. It was very secluded and in the woods, right next to the lake as well. I enjoyed how spread out this campground is compared to most and the location is beautiful."

Modern bathroom facilities: Taughannock Falls State Park Campground offers updated restrooms with private shower facilities. Barbara S. noted, "The bathrooms are fairly clean and well maintained. For washing dishes there is a sink in each bathroom."

Waterfront sites with views: Delta Lake State Park includes lakefront sites that are particularly valued by visitors. Tris W. shared, "We had a waterfront hookup! So pretty especially in the morning with the sunrise. The road to get in was for the most part well taken care of. It was pretty quiet especially after quiet hours everyone was very respectful."

Family-friendly amenities: Robert H. Treman State Park Campground provides multiple playgrounds and swimming areas. According to Jennifer D., "We stayed a week and absolutely loved it! Great hiking to waterfalls, beautiful campgrounds and a large playground."

What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most glamping options near Delphi Falls operate from May through October, with peak season in July-August. At Chenango Valley State Park, summer brings more crowds but also more activities. Mary S. observed, "Deer are all over. Watch out for them on the roads. We had four that were feeding behind our site in the morning."

Electric hookup details: Chenango Valley State Park Campground offers varied electrical options across different camping loops. Mary S. notes, "Parking pads in the electric loops (30 amps and 50 amps) have a good amount of gravel."

Water access limitations: Some parks restrict personal watercraft. Sara H. points out about Green Lakes, "You cannot bring your own kayaks you have to rent. Fun hiking area the water is gorgeous."

Shower conditions vary: At Green Lakes State Park, shower quality can be inconsistent. Chelsea B. reports, "As clean as the bathrooms are, the showers still suck. I'll never understand why parks use the misting shower heads... It's best to use the ADA bathrooms because those shower heads are normal and have wands."

Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: Treasure Isle RV Park features play areas close to camping sites. According to Heather R., "Treasure Isle is nice and quite. The sites are a good size with water and electric on each site. There is a nice bathhouse, playground, basketball court, Beach and walking trails."

Tips from RVers

Site levelness matters: Robert H. Treman State Park has varied site conditions. Victoria noted, "Beautiful park. Electric sites are not the best though. Rocky and unlevel. Not made for large campers."

Electric service options: Green Lakes State Park offers full hookups at specific sites. Sheri S. shared, "This state park campground is one of the few that offer full hook ups. The bathrooms have been remodeled and most are private with a toilet, shower and sink which makes this a wonderful family campground."

RV size considerations: Not all campgrounds accommodate larger rigs. Oleńka S. explains about Bowman Lake: "We had a back in site with a fire pit, picnic table, and no hook ups.
